Lazy Daisy Gift Store — Local services in Williamsburg

Since 2011, I have been supporting Lazy Daisy gift stores since the beginning. The core foundation and the purpose of Lazy Daisy stores is why I still shop today. Starting in Chester VA, LD stores helped me decorate and furnish two homes. My hubby and I purchased many eclectic pieces, tables, buffets, chests, lamps, refurbished items, whimsical awesome decorative accents, jewelry, local honey, an occasional antique, etc. I have referred many people there. From French country, cottage chic shabby, farm country, mid century modern. Followed to Midlothian, Short Pump, and now Williamsburg. What’s not to like at the Lazy Daisy? A store in Williamsburg is great, right? Did they franchise and I missed the memo? Less antique items, more re-crafted and distressed to look antique, but not at these prices without an option for returns. As with all other retailers, prices have greatly increased. I get it. However, I can buy some of these items, that ‘appear handmade’, online or at Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods, for less. At other LD locations, in the past I was able to ask for a discount on larger ticket items. As a former antiques seeker, seller, and booth owner, I have an understanding of item pricing, the amount of cost and labor involved with various items. Some vendors are willing to negotiate. At other LD’s I would ask for a small discount. Sometimes granted, sometimes not. No problem. The customer service folks were always happy to play mediator. Even, if they were busy. This store was not even close to busy yesterday. We are in this store several times a month. I made another attempt on a $95 item, yesterday without success. After we asked, we browsed the store allowing the employee time to make a call. Or text. The same response as always: ‘Prices are as marked’. It’s not just one vendor. I have been in both of the buildings (the one next door just closed) and was told the exact same thing. This is not the old Lazy Daisy that I am familiar with, the one that opened in Chester. In this store a fair amount of the items on the walls and around the store are for the sole purpose of decoration. NFS. Many of which I would be interested in buying. This store, while beautifully designed, is more commercial, offers less happy ‘Daisies’ for picking. It is not as inviting. The worker that was there yesterday afternoon was not fully engaged, same as two weeks prior when we purchased over $300 worth of items. Yesterday $148. What has happened to the ‘country store gift shop’, customer service with a purpose and a smile, Lazy Daisy? You can still find many cool items and a good store for unique pieces if you’re willing to spend the money. Three stars for customer service and re-crafted items which are overpriced. I’m so sorry to say I purchased a table there and gave it to a friend for a Christmas Party and she was very disappointed withthe table because the legs are painted white and the oak tops are stained very nice but the white paint is sloped all around the legs on the bottom .So I called the store back only to be told all there stuff is sold with no returns .All I’m asking is that vender correct the bottom of the table with the same stain as the top around the tables legs .Itlooks terrible .To sell a table for $88.00 as a final sale that took like this is not good business .Ive purchased a lot of stuff from the Lazy Daisy store in Williamsburg .Never had a problem .Id like a call from this store manager and the vendor who this table belongs to .I have NO Reciept but I charged...

My visit was such a charming experience! The store is filled with a wonderful variety of items, from home decor to unique gifts, yet everything is arranged so thoughtfully that it never feels overwhelming. The spacious layout made for a relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience.
