I've thought long and hard before reviewing this hotel because there are things that work and others that can definitely be improved. The hotel itself is nice (and pet friendly) and I'll get to it later but let's talk about the staff because it left me a bit confused. We got there (me, my husband, and our dog) on Friday afternoon. We were greeted warmly and they were lovely with my dog so no problem here. Comes the night and we were sleeping in our room when, at 10:30pm, a dog starts barking constantly. We waited for a good 20 minutes and when the dog didn't give any signs of quitting barking I rang the front desk explaining the situation. I was told "this is a pet friendly hotel so barking is expected". I explained that it was non stop barking during sleep time and maybe she should call the owner. She said she'd take care of it and 5 seconds after the call, coincidentally, the dog stopped barking completely. It was now around 11pm. We fell back asleep until the room phone rang at 11:40pm. I answered and it was the later shift receptionist telling me that the situation of the dog barking was now solved...good thing we thought it was comical because who thinks it's a good idea to call someone in the middle of the night to say that they solved the situation? We obviously figured it out already because we were finally sleeping until we weren't. Amongst another things I found a hair in the oatmeal and noticed that the sweet lady preparing breakfast had her hair barely tied in a ponytail with them escaping in all directions and one receptionist talking on the personal phone more often than not. I think that the staff is all pretty friendly but could be a bit more professional in certain circumstances.
Parking in the parking garage across from the entrance and it was free on the weekend. The hotel is in a prime location and everything is nearby. The lobby is small but, even if the hotel was pretty busy, it never felt crowded. The dining area is decently sized and early in the morning is empty but it gets busy by 8:30 or so. We stayed in a studio room and it had a stocked kitchenette with a full fridge, a pretty large closet, a futon, and a king size bed. The bathroom was medium sized but comfortable. This said, aside from the lobby, everything is in need of renovation: the walls (especially in the bathroom) need painting and some of the metal features were completely rusted. The rooms were clean but there is an old patina on pretty much everything. I'm being picky here and I have a thing against finding hair in food and elsewhere, but I found several long blonde hairs laying on various surfaces which I assume belonged to the cleaning staff. So to summarize my experience, it seems like they take pride in being a pet friendly hotel at the expense of the fact that first and foremost it's a hotel and people pay to sleep. Some things like being a bit more professional and using some kind of effective hair restraints could...
Read moreI've been a Marriott member for many years and have stayed in various Marriott hotels... For work and leisure - sometimes for 3 weeks at a time. I'd like to preface this review by saying this is NOT the norm for Marriott - but needs to be made known nonetheless.
We booked a double room for our family of four (two of whom are toddlers) to stay as we had a family gathering in town the following morning. The front desk staff was kind and welcoming. However, when we got in our room, we noticed ants crawling all along the bathroom wall and vanity. We hoped it was just a problem in the bathroom and checked the kitchen area - unfortunately we found ants all along the wall as well.
We went down to the front desk to ask for a different room and was told they had no more rooms with two double beds, just a king suite, but they could take !!!THIRTEEN WHOLE DOLLARS!!! off the price for the "inconvenience." We didn't really have another option at that time and our kids were exhausted, so we agreed and went back up to a different room on the same floor - this time at the opposite end of the hotel. As soon as we walked in, we noticed ants all over the floor of the kitchen area. We ended up leaving - it was clear they had some type of infestation and I was not about to bring that home with us - and instead booked a room at the Fairfield Inn a few blocks away (although it was just as bad - read that review).
We ended up missing our family gathering as we did not have a place to stay and had to come back home. To say we were heartbroken at the outcome is an understatement.
I have NEVER had such a disgusting, off-putting experience at any hotel I have ever stayed at - Marriott or otherwise. The staff was courteous, although they could have done more to mitigate the situation or appear that they cared - and their kindness was truly the only redeeming part of this...
Read moreWe have a TV crew of over 200 people that work the Little League World Series. Most of us, like myself are in town for 20 nights. This is my third year at this hotel and the staff is awesome. Lisa and Jody always treat us like we are family, accommodating our crazy needs, like my boss who loves chicken salad and can't find it in town. They know our names, and try hard to remember and learn new crew members who join us. One of my main responsibilities is managing the crew and I always get awesome feedback about the hotel. The room is like a mini apartment which is so nice to be able to unpack and settle into.
We have tons of packages being shipped in daily and the staff are always ready for us with the packages and have even called me onsite to let me know packages have arrived.
The ladies who manage the breakfast always have a warm good morning smile and they know I like the vanilla yogurt, chocolate milk and blueberry muffins. This year they hide blueberry muffins for me since it was mostly banana. They keep it clean, stocked and for a free hotel breakfast it really is great. Adding the breakfast sandwiches rocked.
I spend well over 150 nights a year in a hotel and I can't say it's always good. BUT Williamsport always has me leaving feeling awesome. This is my fav place we visit all year! I can't stress how great the staff is to us. Thank you for...
