Cillo’s is a fine establishment in downtown Williamsport for those who are interested in selling gold & coins. I have gone in—per the instructions on the door—and sold items on 3 occasions to the owner. He’s been respectful towards me each time. He also respects the process, as he expertly threw a person out of the shop for insisting on browsing during my last appraisal—which of course is a private matter. She even asked what he was appraising for me, which was a bit shocking. I really appreciated that he handled the situation swiftly, considering that she revealed herself to be someone who would become aggressive and shout expletives from the street. One never knows the intentions of people who are so insistent on browsing during a private appraisal.
There’s a note on the door with clear instructions on how the shop operates. It’s just perplexing that there are those who insist on proceeding as they wish, creating an unfortunate circumstance for themselves.
If you’re someone who wishes to sell gold or coins, I highly recommend Cillo’s. I received a fair price for my items and the owner is courteous. I imagine that it helped that I respected his shop by having the right intentions for being there...
Read moreWe showed up today during business hours--open sign lit up. The sign on the door said back in 20, which was fine.
The owner/employee/co-op person said he just put the sign up, but said he'd be longer than 20 minutes. Again, no problem.
The guy then stops my wife and I asking, "What do you want?". We tell him we wanted to browse. He kind of chuckled and walked off. We were so turned off from the interaction that we grabbed lunch nearby and just left.
From the other reviews, it's obvious that this is the typical experience. The place looked decent from the outside, but the guy and his behavior seemed shady. It certainly didn't seem like the usual antique store experience.
Before the seller starts making excuses about people browsing, it's hard to decide if I want to buy something without even seeing what you have.
All in all, this place is probably not worth any effort, unless you just happen to be standing right in front of it when the open sign actually means open and you already know which items from their inventory you wish to buy without actually...
Read moreWorst experience. Guy opened the door for us and asked if we were looking for something. We said we were just looking. He let us in and said, slurring, that he "liked the look of" me so I could look. Then he asked us again what we were looking for. We repeated that we were just looking around. He then weirdly laughed, repeated what we said sarcastically, and started ranting almost incoherently. I was really put off and asked if he'd just let us look. He said yes and began ranting about not having to provide a browsing service, it's his store, he owns everything, and then after his rant asked me what my opinion was. I said, "I have no opinion" and we left. I thought I'd save my opinion for a Google review: rude, disrespectful, and extremely strange guy gave us the most disappointing "service" ever. It's a shame because we're local and have always wanted to go in and see what was there and purchase what we liked. Even if he had something we wanted, we will...
