We were way behind schedule due to traffic in NYC. We called ahead to let them know we were not going to arrive until after 3 am. The woman at the hotel front desk said she had my husbands credit card but needed the last 4 to confirm our reservation. I explained that he was driving and did not have access to his cc until we stop in NC. We asked to please make sure that the room would still be available for our arrival. She kept insisting I give her the last 4 and would not guarantee the 2 rooms we booked after we had already given all the info the hotel requested when the initial reservation was booked. She insisted on having my husband pull out his cc from his wallet as he drove 80 mph on 95. We went back & forth for 4 minutes on the phone until she finally let it go. She was not pleasant and I did not like her snarky attitude the phone.
My husband and daughter each driving, 6 of us in total with a golden retriever . we had driven 12 hours straight to get to our destination. Only to find a woman who did not make us feel welcome, despite the situation we still checked in. After she had charged the cc for 2 rooms, she told us “No pets allowed”. My husband explained that the agent told him it was per friendly. He immediately asked to cancel the 2 rooms. She said too late we will get a refund from the booking company. She also refused to give us proof of cancellation. She once again was very rude with snarky attitude. I am sure Comfort Inn & Suites is a descent hotel, however the woman at the front desk should not be in a position that requires kindness and good customer service.
We left, luckily we were able to get accommodations at Country Inn & Suites which was across the parking lot. The gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly and thank God they are pet...
Read moreVery clean and well maintained hotel. The handicapped accessible junior suite was huge, with a large bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, and the TV was a nice size. The couch was firm, but adequate. If we were having company, there was plenty of room for everyone. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially the desk clerk, and the breakfast attendant.
The only complaints I have are with the charges, the handicapped bathroom, and the mid-week mixer. A $75 rate was $82 with tax, but I was charged $92, without explanation. When I asked I was told there was a $10 incidental fee that would drop off if I didn't use any extra services. However, there was also a separate $7.50 fee when I checked my bank app. When asked, the clerk told me she didn't know what that was for, that the hotel added it, but also dropped it off after checkout. I should have been told up front, but, even more so, what on earth is the $7.50 for? How can hotels just charge whatever they want for incidentals, twice?
The bathroom was perfect for wheelchair access, and included a portable shower seat. However, there was a tub, and not a walk-in shower. The tub did have 4 grab bars, but a walk in would really have been easier. The sink area could have benefited from being wider, to better accommodate a wheelchair.
We were there in a Tuesday, when there should have been a 6 PM mixer, with light appetizers. I was looking forward to that as a light dinner. However, we were told that there weren't enough guests to warrant the mixer that night. I found that to be very unfair, misleading, and false advertising. Part of why we chose this hotel was for the mixer, so we didn't need to go out for dinner. The breakfast buffet, however, was very good...
Read moreWe stayed May 16-18 in Wilson NC. Booking was very easy and when I needed to add a room and called the hotel directly, they were very helpful. I received a call four or so days prior to our arrival letting us know that the elevator was not working. Not ideal, but we knew with only a two night stay we wouldn’t have a ton of stuff to lug up the stairs. We were on the fourth floor.
Front office staff was very friendly upon our arrival on the 16th.
A few things that bumped down the score—
The WiFi did not work. I could not connect to the guest WiFi- it would just spin and so I ended up having to use my hot spot to work for a few hrs.
On website it should have under renovation and pool is not in use. We came with girls that love to hang by the pool in between games and the pool was absolutely disgusting. Clearly had not been cleaned for the season yet but I can’t even imagine it clear and in working condition after seeing it like that. The outside painting didn’t bother me at all and it will look so much better when completed.
The air must not work in the stairwells or halls. It was very hot when walking up/down the stairs and in the halls. The air in the rooms was amazing though! Black out blinds are great too.
The other negative was when I asked for a later departure on Sunday (12:00) they said not unless I joined the rewards program (or something like that). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and have never been told no for an hour later departure. Was very disappointed. I didn’t end up leaving the room until 11:30 and when I left, the cleaning crew was sitting at the gazebo smoking and maybe taking a break. They were no where near our room to be...
