We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (May 19 - 21, 2017). Reserved 2 rooms about 3 - 4 weeks ahead of time. We arrived late on Friday night. While checking in, I noticed a handwritten sign laying on the check-in counter that stated "Pool/Spa Out of Service" or something to that affect. That already was going to be an issued because my younger girls were looking forward to the pool. I proceed to our room and let me first say that walking in front of my family was a couple who had also checked in. I noticed an animal moving around the woman's shoulders and I then notice it was a monkey! Cats and dogs are one thing, but a monkey! Ok, so after opening the door I am hit with this strange odor and heat. No air was turned on in the room and it was stifling. Having asthma, it was not good at all. The room seemed so dark and almost damp like. After checking over things, we also discovered that the shower would not close because it was uneven at the bottom.
Received a FaceTime call from my daughter from her room on the 2nd floor. She shows me where there was an extreme amount of MOLD in the bathroom! My daughter is pregnant with twins. This was definitely unacceptable. As we were heading to meet up at the front desk to complain, my daughter shows me the ceiling and rug in the hallways. Holes, water stains, etc. were visible. Needs a lot of work. The lady at the front desks tells us that they were booked and had no other rooms. She proceeds to call the owner or manager and tells him/her that there were military rooms being held that no one had shown up for yet (it was close to 12 AM at this time). She must have been told not to give it to us because she then asked if we had checked other hotels and if my daughter wanted her reservation cancelled. Hotels that we wanted were fully booked or cost a lot more so my daughter had to move her families belongings back to her car in order to go and stay with her sister who lives in the area. This was a BIG inconvenience because we had come as a surprise to my older daughter and she was not supposed to know that we were in NC at the time.
My family and I stayed at the hotel only because I had used my Choice points in order to book my room and it would have been a hassle to cancel and try to get my points back. We were given a different room for the 2nd night which was a lot better. I'm not sure if management has changed or what over the last year or so, but serious changes/upgrades need to happen here. I believe that my days of staying at this Sleep Inn are done which is a shame since we drive down to this area at least 10-12 times/year and have...
Read moreHad requested room on upper floor online. When we arrived, we were not told that we would not be able to have second floor room, so assumed that we were being given a room on the second floor. We found out that there wasn't an elevator. My husband and I are in our 70's. We had been on the road for 13 hours and were exhausted. I told the woman that checked us in and she apologized that there was no elevator. She gave us the room key and we trudged up the stairs with our luggage. Once we made it to the second floor, I looked at the key and saw room number 113. The numbers on the rooms were, of, course, all starting with the number 2. I told my husband to wait upstairs while I walked back down the steps and asked her if our room was on the first floor. She said yes. I said so why did you let us drag ourselves and our luggage up the steps. After the conversation we had had with her, she should have told us it was on the first floor. I was not happy!! Once we got settled, I tried to get the room temperature cooler. I got up 3 times to lower the temperature, and finally changed the fan speed to high. Well that didn't last too long. I would just start to fall asleep and the A/C would come back on so loudly, it sounded like a jet engine taking off. I had to get back up and turn the fan back down to low. Finally got to sleep from total exhaustion. I must also mention that the carpet on the bottom steps of the stairway was filthy. We are usually pretty happy with our Sleep Inn experience, but not this time. We definitely will not...
Read moreI believe our team had 11 or 12 rooms at this tiny hotel (more like a motel). The advantages were the proximity to the highway, plenty of restaurants nearby, and adequate parking. The staff was also pleasant.
There were at least two rooms that were refused upon check in (one smelled terribly of smoke and the other had toothpaste smeared on the mirror). There may have been a third that had a noticeable hole in the curtain, but I'm not sure if they stayed in that room or asked for another. One family asked for extra towels and were told to return the ones they had to be washed. I had our privacy tag on the door yet they entered our room. We also found a hat behind the nightstand that should have been found if any attention was paid to cleaning. The continental breakfast consisted of stale cereal, slices of white bread, yogurt, and twinkies. I've never seen anything like it in my life. There was also some unidentified sandwich plus a waffle machine. I didn't eat any of the offerings though I had a coffee and the girls tried the cereal.
There is also no elevator or fitness room (as stated on the website). I'd gladly stay in an older hotel, but this was unacceptable. It smelled very stale when we entered the room, opened the sliding interior door to the toilet/shower, and even when I opened the shower door. I'd be shocked if they didn't have mold issues. The floors in the hallways felt as if they had warped wood underneath the carpet.
We paid $139 a night for these accommodations as they raised the prices while the event...
