Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Winter Haven

I am not one to complain about my experience unless it is something people should know about before spending good amounts of money for POOR quality. I was very disappointed. That is my daughter's favorite place and she asked to go and we all regretted it. I understand due to Covid all these restrictions but they enforce what the want (wear a mask, use glove to get food) and others they don't (people sitting 6 feet away). The waitress was the only positive thing about the restaurant. She was very attentive and we made sure to leave her a good tip. The food, what was even there, was cold or burnt. They serve baked potatoes but when I asked for sour cream they said they dont have any. The staff seemed more into social hour than making sure the customers were happy. This one older lady stood up at the counter for 10 minutes trying to get the cooks attention and EVERY.SINGLE.EMPLOYEE walked right past her like she wasnt there. The chocolate fountain was down, the ice cream machine was not allowed to be used and the few desserts we did eat was old and cold but they tried to keep them fresh under the heat lamp. The salad tasted like it was sitting in water way to Long. It wasn't worth the money that my husband worked so hard for and going there as a reward to daughter because that was what she has been wanting.

I do believe that people and restaurants have off days, which is normal and okay but we probably won't be going to this location again because it's to expensive to risk another...

Well this counted as 2 trips to Corral this season, the first and last. Walking in started my experience off wrong. The person at the register was unpleasant at best. After paying the staff member said “sit wherever want” and walked away. We found a cleaned table and proceeded to get our food, excellent selection at both the salad bar and the buffet. The only issue at this part of the experience was finding a clean plate. The fourth one I picked up was good to go. I have to admit the food selections I made tasted great! The main food section deserves a 4 star for a buffet. The disappointment in the food came from the dessert bar. Starting with the staff member behind the counter. An older women, she was very possessive with her crusted carrot cake, or better described as stale. I tried the chocolate and it was the same. I decided to try some ice cream which came as a disappointment. The vanilla and chocolate had the exact same taste. Overall the dessert bar gets a two star. But the half star would have to go to cleanliness. The dining room looked like there were five separate kids parties recently concluded. The floors and tables appeared like something out of a fairground at closing. The other half of the half star goes to the staff who made us feel like we were lucky they were there. First I want to say that they WERE extremely busy. Nonetheless, apparently they don't have enough staff for cleaning and restocking dishes. Dishes were all sopping wet, whether plate, bowl or silverware. Found many of each of them still dirty and unusable. Besides this, they place plates and bowls in the front under the food. People reaching over to get the food continue to drop food on the dishes. This dirtiness just made me find this place not suitable. The woman, Leslie, who serviced us for drinks, etc was pleasant and efficient. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. My brother got some fried shrimp which looked nice and golden brown. He said they were good. His fried chicken looked overcooked to me. It was somewhat dried out. Maybe sat under a heat lamp too long. My sister ate a nice salad. Unfortunately I don't remember what else she had. I had some salad that was good. It tasted fresh. Also some good chicken noodle soup. I noticed that the broccoli cheddar soup was dried out on the top. It needed replacement. I also had some creamy delicious Mac and cheese, a nice creamy good green bean casserole and a piece of steak. Steak was not bad for a buffet. I had a hot fudge sundae for dessert. It was good.
