We lived in St. Louis for 15 years and recently moved away - we decided to stay at this brand new Holiday Inn Express on a recent trip back to see family and friends. We were not disappointed!
The hotel is obviously brand new and everything is in excellent condition. The bed was SUPER comfortable, the towels soft and thick and everything was very very clean.
The large walk-in shower was great (we hate the bathtub/shower curtain combo many hotels have) and the water pressure was also great.
Housekeeping was very prompt and showed up about the same time each day (which was good because I was working in the room during the day so knew about when to expect them).
We did try the salt water pool but it was cold, and we were informed that because of it being salt water instead of chlorinated it could not be heated. No big deal, though.
Breakfast in the lobby was good, though we didn't take full advantage of it as there were often large groups of kids (sports team, maybe?) there in the mornings and it was crowded and somewhat noisy. We would take food back to the room and enjoy it there.
The best part of this hotel by far is the staff. We drove overnight from Virginia and hoped to check in early on Saturday morning. Unfortunately they couldn't immediately accommodate us, but the nice woman at the desk (unfortunately I do not have her name, but would like to recognize her) told us to try back in about an hour - at that time they had some rooms cleaned and we were able to take a much needed shower and nap.
Your staff member Brian was extremely helpful to both us and some friends that were visiting and had a room for one night during our stay. He always went above and beyond and made sure we had the two extra towels we requested each night. He's right, we do take a lot of showers. :)
Only one gripe, which is not at all the hotel's fault: we had loud neighbors on our last night - we were awoken by them at 2:30 with a loud TV and I think they never stopped talking (loudly) all night. We had to be up early for the 12-hour drive back home that morning so we lost out on some sleep. But, we didn't bring this to the staff's attention or anything - we just griped to each other.
When we return to STL we will definitely stay here again. We hope that the great service and great accommodations stay at this high level as the hotel matures....
Read moreWe have stayed at this hotel several times to fly out the next morning on a trip. If I remember correctly they use to offer free parking up to a certain amount of days. But when we checked in they told me we where going to have to pay for the 4 nights we where leaving the car. At that point they pretty well had us! Then we had to park in a certain location.
The comfort of the room was nice and the lady at the front day the next morning was just AWESOME. Don't remember her name but she is a keeper!
Here comes the negative!
The drive that took us to the airport didn't even offer to help us load our luggage or unload it!
Then when We came back to 20 degree weather and after we got our luggage we called for pick up and they told me it would be 10 minutes so we went and stood outside in the cold temps and 40 minutes later!!!!!!! and 3 phone calls the driver finally showed up.
I know it wasn't the drivers fault because of traffic, but when you are told 10 minutes and you have to stand outside in below freezing temps I feel like they should have called me back and kept me informed. They need BETTER communications with the driver and the hotel. I can't image if it was storming or whatever even worse weather. Then the driver said he was illegally parked and wouldn't even get out and help us load our luggage. Then when we got back to the hotel he didn't even bother to help us unload our luggage! Needless to say he didn't get a tip and I usually tip those guys well
Here's the second complaint when we got back to the hotel and our Suburban snow had been plowed up right in front of it up to the top of the front bumper and to the top of the running boards. If it was a smaller there would have been NO WAY we would have been able to get out. Luckily I put it in 4 wheel drive and we left it there before the weather hit and we where still on dry ground or we would not have gotten out!
I know these are petty but just felt like my family had to stand out in the freezing temps because of the poor communications between the driver and the hotel.
Good luck with your...
