Since it is a brand new hotel (operational since about 2 weeks) I think it deserves a bit detail than just fabulous. Although I am local, I am spoiled with choices for hotels since I am Dubai resident for many years and in general I can tell if a hotel is up notch or not so much. I stayed with my wife in Superior King room, which was quite spacious, and the quality of interiors, furniture, lighting, W/C was impressive. Room also had a cable TV, free wifi, and laundry service. You could almost sense newness from the furniture, bathrobes, towels etc. It was a child friendly hotel. Although we were just a couple, but we asked since we intend to bring our kids in the future. The room had an armchair that converts to small bed and hotel can also provide additional crib upon request for free. Hotel served free breakfast and they had almost anything that you would expect from cereals, fruits, eggs & sausages, beverages, and local pastries. The staff were very polite and attentive and you could tell they are at your full service. It was a halal hotel, so drinking and smoking was prohibited. There were however designated smoking areas outdoors. We also find Qibla direction in the room to our pleasant surprise. The hotel building structure reminds you of a traditional madrasa (school for Quranic studies). The hotel is in the free walkway that tourists ride bikes or buggies, and is located exactly in the center, with Registan square at one end and Bibi Khanum at the other, both about 5 min walking distance. This worked perfectly for us for short walks despite summer heat. There is no immediate car access from the hotel, and you need to walk about 2-3 min to catch a cab. There is also a secret hidden passage to backstreet, that is across the street that we found very convenient if you order taxi online. Ask hotel staff for more details. Hotel does not have a pool nor gym, but the staff told us there is still some construction ongoing and it would be available in the near future. I would definitely recommend Sangzor hotel and will hopefully stay here again for my next trip...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel as the location was central with good access to Registan Square as well as Shah-i-Zinda.
We had a Suite room booked, which was huge, with 2 double beds, and 2 single beds, and extra Sofa Seating. The room itself was very old, but had great amenities like Smart TV, Hot Water Kettle, Fridge, Wi'Fi, etc. The bathroom was good, huge, and modern. The room window view is very restricted due to the architecture design. The best part was the close proximity to the restaurants, shopping areas, and other tourist attractions.
There is no parking space within the hotel. The nearest parking or car accessibility spot for taxi is around 50m in front of the hotel, behind a department store. It almost right in front of the hotel.
The breakfast at this hotel is very average. Very less choices, and average food quality. Good timing till 11 am. There is no lift in this total 3 floored hotel. They do have a fitness center, and an open lounge area with sit down table and low beds for enjoying your evening drinks and hookah / shisha.
There is no room service, or restaurant in the hotel.
The hotel staff are very courteous, and helpful. They will tend your needs as best possible.
Overall, it was a average stay for us friends. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the excellent location, but not for a luxury and comfortable stay. It is a bit pricey for what they offer. It is a...
Read moreWe booked through Booking.com and, due to a 9-hour flight delay, we lost one day of our reservation and all available train connections to Samarkand.
We repeatedly tried to contact the hotel using the only phone number provided (no email available), but the hotel never answered our calls. When we finally arrived, we discovered that the hotel had given our room (Deluxe), booked and prepaid, to other guests without contacting us by phone or email using the details we had provided.
Only late at night and after an hour of negotiations did the hotel contact another property (Booking.com rating 6.4 instead of 9.3). The room was of much lower quality: no windows, separate beds, and no hot water. We had to walk there in the middle of the night, and they even asked us to pay again for this accommodation, promising to refund us the following day.
The next day, however, we received no explanation and no refund. We asked the hotel at least to refund the difference, but they refused, telling us to contact Booking.com — only after two more hours of discussions.
On top of this, they set up the Booking.com page so that we are unable to leave a review, effectively silencing our complaint. This experience really ruined our experience...
