Essenza Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Đà Nẵng

The room was pretty nice, we had one of the bigger rooms which came with a large refrigerator, and even a stove top. It had a balcony and a view, not much of a view but better than nothing.

We had an included breakfast which begins at 7:00 am which was great if you have something to do early and want to grab something to hold you till lunch.

Most of the staff was great, always smiling and offering to help you with anything that came up. The room was always cleaned and made up after going out and returning in the afternoon.

There was a problem however and it's the reason why I am only leaving a 2 star rating. The day I arrived I noticed several excursions listed at the front desk, later that evening I went to the front desk to arrange one of the excursions for the following day. There was a gentleman at the front desk and I inquired about the side trip. He told me that they have their own car and that they could take me whenever I wanted to go. I told him that we would come down at 7:00 am, grab something fast to eat and then be ready to go. He said okay, I asked if I had to reserve anything, he said no.

The following morning we go to the lobby just before 7:00 am, I go to the front desk and there is a young lady there, I tell her that we will be going on the excursion right after we quickly eat something, she asks me if I made a reservation!

She said she would get the car, we sit down to eat something so we can be on our way. While we are eating the guy that I had spoken to the previous evening comes up and asks when would we like to go, I tell him we want to go as soon as we finish eating which will be in just a couple of minutes.

We finish and walk out front where the guy I had spoken to is smoking a cigarette, he tells us to sit down, it will be a few minutes. Well I'm pretty sure that the hotel doesn't have their own car and they just called someone to take us where we wanted to go. So we ended up waiting till just about 8:00 am.

We had gotten up early so that we could get an early start and hopefully beat the busloads of tourists by taking the hotel car that doesn't exist.

So the car finally arrives and takes us where we want to go, we get out of the car and the driver asks us how long are we going to be, what time will we be back to the car. What kind of stupid question is that? How the heck do I know, I've never been here before and have no idea how long it's going to take, am I supposed to be on the drivers schedule?

Well not too long after we arrived those busloads of tourists that we had gotten up early to avoid started arriving.

We finished seeing what we wanted to see and headed back to the car, we couldn't find it. Someone came up to us and was trying to show us his phone, I didn't know who he was or what he wanted. My girlfriend looks at the phone and the guy asks “is this you”, I wonder what the hell he's talking about. Turns out the original driver bailed on us and obviously he knew that he was going to leave because he snapped a photo of my girlfriend and sent it to a buddy of his...creepy!

So stay here, it's a nice place but whatever you do don't arrange any trips or...

After day 1 I was thinking of doing a 1 or 2 star review, but this review is proof that a staff's reaction to a problem is all it takes to make the guest happy. Agoda advertises the upgraded room as having a "partial ocean view" it doesn't! In fact you will most likely have a view of an adjacent properties wall, or the street in front. The staff seemed genuinely sorry and went above and beyond to show it with a discount on my Scooter rental. Overall you really cant go wrong for $17cad including breakfast for a clean and comfortable room with great water pressure! Like I said the staff really did seem sorry and tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast is basic but good, and the property is very close to My Khe beach. Despite the misleading Agoda posting I would definitely stay here again as I dont think you can get much better for the price with...

Its a decent hotel. Good value for money. Rooms are clean but the rooms had mosquitoes. They couldn’t do much about it on the first night. However, for our next night, they staff duly sprayed the room to make it mosquito free. We had some confusion with breakfast. One staff was pretty weird. He took the order for 2 of us but food was served for only 1. Though he wasn’t comfortable with English, we clearly communicated through the translator app and he repeated the order as well but we waited for quite long and didn’t receive anything. We had a tour cab waiting for us so we had to leave empty stomach. That was a bad experience. Staff should be more careful about these things. It disrupts the routine of the whole day.
