I've visited Mad Platter twice, initially right after its opening and recently in March 2024. Despite my high expectations, both visits left much to be desired. The decor felt familiar, reminiscent of another Korean-owned establishment in Da Nang and its sister venue in Hanoi. Unfortunately, the service staff lacked the quality one would hope for, leading to numerous mishaps and the need to repeat orders (-1 point). On my first visit, opting for cocktails only seemed like a safer choice, avoiding potential disappointment with the food.
Returning for a second try, I sought out their touted hamburger, curious after reading some positive reviews.
Some likened it to a Ramly burger, known for its unique omelette wrap. However, the burger at Mad Platter bore no resemblance to such a description, leaving me skeptical of the authenticity of certain reviews.
Determined to judge for myself, I ordered the burger, only to find it lacking in flavor and texture (-1 point for poor execution). The beef was tasteless, drowned in an overly sweet sauce that resembled a sugar glazed doughnut more than a burger.
Disappointed, I couldn't bring myself to finish the meal, settling for a few fries that were passable, albeit the frozen variety that comes in a bag.
With no intention of returning, I found myself yearning for the neighboring Esco Beach's delicious offerings, regretting not choosing it initially. Mad Platter's ambiance was its only saving grace, earning it a meager 2/5 stars, but the overall experience fell far short of...
Read moreMy review is mostly service based. Could not try much of the food because of the horrible service.
I understand it is new years eve and the restaurant is busy, but we were not even informed that there is a last order time. Last order was apparently at 1030 and I tried to place an order at 1036 and was rudely denied. I tried to explain that we were not informed. I may have possibly misunderstood because of the language barrier but what I gained after 10-15 minutes of arguing was " we apologise that we didn't inform you earlier, but we are informing you now". This was completely unacceptable, and nothing was done in form of compensation for this either.
We also asked for lemon for our drinks, especially the mojito which had almost no flavour. We received the lemon AN HOUR later.
As far as food and drink goes from what we tasted, the mojito was horrific, melon based drink was decent. The onion in the onion rings was not cooked at all while the outside was too oily. Pesto pasta was too oily. Scallop pasta was ok. It seems like an excessive amount of oil and cream is used in cooking
Maybe on another day I might have had a much...
Read moreWe ordered the seafood platter for 4 and added a lobster. The platter came and the portion was huge, usually in other restaurants it will be just 4 for each seafood, but we had like 2-3pc per seafood per person, clams, mussels, shrimps, abalones, scallops, crabs, it was so satisfying. What sets them apart is their ingenious service that takes the hassle out of enjoying seafood. After showing you the whole platter, the staff offered to remove all the shells from the seafood, he is so skillfull, like Gordan Ramsay extracting meat from the lobster, making it a breeze to savour the juicy meat without any fuss. This thoughtful touch allows you to fully immerse yourself in the dining experience and relish the pure pleasure of indulging in freshly prepared seafood.
Other dishes are also top quality, especially the pork ribs, which surprised everyone with the juicy and perfectly flavoured meat. The outdoor seating with the beach view adds an extra touch of charm to the dining experience.
I kindly suggest the owner consider a non-smoking policy in the outdoor area to ensure a pleasant dining experience...
