This hotel is pretty good, but from the experience I had saying here, it wasn't as good as the stellar ratings would seem to indicate.
First, the good points: The location was fantastic and the price was pretty good for the area. The free breakfast buffet had long hours and decent variety, but I did notice they stopped refilling certain dishes almost an hour before the end of breakfast. Everything in the room worked as advertised and there was ample seating in the lobby and outside. For the most part, an enjoyable stay.
As for the bad things, the number one thing that bothered me as I stayed here was the condition of the bed linens. They were in really bad shape, with stains in many places. It was so bad that I actually slept with a shirt and socks on. I know this might have been an aberration, but most hotels would have trashed the sheets I was given long ago.
I also experienced problems with their keycard system. Twice during my 3-night stay my card stopped working. The second time it stopped working they had to give me a maintenance keycard and do some crazy things to the door handle to fix it, promising that a more permanent fix the following day. And I know it wasn't just me who had this issue. My friend had the same thing happen to him and I saw two other guests come down to the lobby with similar issues. Issues like this sometimes occur and they said it was a bug because of the New Year, but it was inconvenient nonetheless.
Staff was hit or miss. The girl who was there in the mornings was lovely and spoke decent English. The girl at the desk in the evening had a little trouble with English and wasn't very accommodating. In addition, the exchange rate they offered was the worst I saw in the city, but to be fair, that isn't atypical when it comes to hotels.
This isn't a bad option per se, but having stayed elsewhere later in my holiday I will say there are better options nearby at better prices. I wouldn't recommend against staying here, just don't come here think everything is perfect as the ratings would seem...
Read moreI really dislike giving bad reviews.. but from my experience, you need to be careful with your belongings. Long story short, the housekeeping dropped my laptop causing a dent where the charger cable goes. More details, I was there 7 nights, I asked for cleaning only once, my laptop was on a stand on the desk. I was out all day and the next day, as most tourist are, and noticed 2 days after. I told them about it. They said that they will investigate, then replied that housekeeping didn't touch the laptop, which is weird cause they also say that they always clean the desk. So how would it be possible cleaning the desk without moving the laptop. I think I should have put the laptop in a more secure place like the closet or smt, so it wouldn't be so exposed. I understand that mistakes happen, I'm sorry it has happened to me. I really hope it is just cosmetics and that in wouldn't influence the computers performance. Otherwise, I would give 4 stars. Because it's good location, stuff is generally nice, spacious rooms, clean, good breakfast (too early for me though). The bed and shower are pretty comfortable. They switched a room for me after I asked because it was on the elevator. Which was nice. They paid for the ride to the airport (which I gave back in tips) was also nice.
Cons: my room had a very small window, no small desk near the bed. Little smell of mold, I am sensitive normally, it was durable for little while. The motorbikes cost there 30k more than the place I rented eventually. Hardly any space to put my stuff around the sink in...
Read moreThe room is nice but the staff is not very helpful. The water kettle in my room didn't work properly and wouldn't heat the water beyond barely luke warm so I took it down to the front desk, explained the problem, and asked for a replacement. They immediately started making excuses, saying it wasn't supposed to get hot, only warm. They wouldn't even plug it in to test it. They just kept telling me that I was wrong. Most of the hotels in this area use the same kettle and it brings the water to a boil. Finally, the porter stepped in and spoke to the 2 ladies at the front desk and convinced them to replace the kettle and the replacement worked properly. The staff here needs to be more willing to listen to customer concerns and try to correct the problems. Making excuses and telling the customer that they are wrong creates a Very bad customer experience. In my experience, problems like this usually point to management. Create a positive environment for your staff and they will create a positive environment for your customers. Compare this to my review of...
