Overall, stay was OK, wasn't perfect but it was OK. The staff from the beginning were very friendly and accommodating. So I think mainly the 3 starts are for the staff. The hostel is located in a great location, in the middle of the old quarter. On the negative? There are only 2 bathrooms for 2 floors of bunk beds. 1 on each floor, and this includes a toilet and a shower together. I found this very inconvenient with so many beds and it being mixed dorm. There will be a que. The cleaning could be improved as well. The lockers undrr the bed ? They won't keep your things safe since most of them are broken. The AC wasn't the most powerful, and I had someone in the room with the remote who would constantly change the temperature at night for even higher. I believe that with weather like this, the AC should be set to one comfortable temperature and not allowed to be changed by anyone. If you are cold, you can always ask for an extra blanket, but when I am uncomfortable, sweating in bed ? What can I do? There are little fans, however, for each bed, which are loud but gives a bit of air circulating. I don't like to think you get what you pay for. On the good side, there were curtains and the staff was...
Read moreSome staff are good, and the entire hostel, for the price paid seemingly goes above and beyond. The place is very small and simple with one 2nd and 3rd floor dormitory with ensuites. Each bed has a built-in table, electrical outlet and a fan. There are two AC units in each and a kettle and a large table for socialising, eating and working. The place is staffed from the morning until 00:00ish. The location is central and water can be purchased at reception. Additionally should you wish you can move or utilise the facilities of EcoStay 2 which is a 5 minute walk away. Very well managed for the most part indeed, and the WiFi is strong. I think, however, that the other staff are slacking substantially and seem to forget that a dorm is for sleeping, hence why most people book. I wouldn't stay again as the sleep quality is super poor and there is absolutely no real security at all as all the doors are open throughout the night (building door included) so anyone can enter without even paying and take a bed (and it happened often) or no doubt on some past and future occasion, some...
Read moreGood for one night for the location and price. Bed is very firm and had a half dozen stray black hairs on it hopefully from when the sheets were laundered. Nice to have curtains but they were a sheer material that did not provide much privacy. Not sure what makes it eco, maybe because it was two large rooms with about 12 beds each and two bathrooms for 24 or so guests (and towel is not included). Did not feel very secure as there is not a key for the front door (you are given the code upon check in, not sure if this code is ever changed, and there is no other barrier between the front door and your sleeping area) and no 24/7 security, when I tried to return around 8pm there was a random local man trying to get in and was watching me put the code in. I felt unsafe so I left and came back again later when he...
