I have never left a negative review of a hotel, and I feel a bit bad about leaving this because the front desk people were kind, however I want to be honest to people looking for a hotel. I don't look for much in a hotel stay - just a secure room with a clean bed and clean bathroom really. I would say these things were true, but unfortunately there were some things I can't ignore.
#1 problem was the sulfur stench. I woke up in the middle of the night 3/4 nights we stayed. My husband woke up two nights. One of the nights was genuinely so unbearable we had to crack the room door open, which leads to another problem...
The lock is via the doorknob, but ours kept having issues. We would have to basically just exit and re-enter the room several times until it worked properly otherwise this alarm would start going off. Most times we'd do this a few times and it would fix itself, but one night it wouldn't stop. Had to ask the front desk for help and they never really told us a fix they just had to close it from the outside for us.. bizarre.
Lastly the room just didn't really look like any of the photos I'd seen. And it's not like I was looking at photos of nice suites and booked a regular room, the photos looked like their regular rooms so another odd thing.
We did not complain about the sulfur smell to them to be fair. I doubt it's an easy fix, but, for transparency it's not something we tried to have looked into as our stay was only 4 nights.
The location is great if you're wanting to be in the action of the old french...
Read moreIf you book here this is what you need to know! Do not let them move you next door telling you it is just a room change. The Prince II is very comfortable and sound proof. Next door is like a one star hostel with no sound proofing. My first night was just up one flight of stairs in a luxury room with a great view then the lovely staff asked if I would change rooms so a group could all stay together. I tried to be helpful but when I ridged that night I found I had changed hotels too! Room 101 in 1984 (the worst room in the world) I read on to advisor I am not the only person this happened to. Next door was so noisy from the street I didn't sleep till 4am then was awoken by music from the snack bar downstairs at 7. The staff of Prince II are lovely so it's difficult to be too angry with them but the only compensation for pain was a 2 dollar reduction in an airport transfer. The third night they put me on the 6th floor when I complained. It is a long climb floor one is already upstairs. But in the upside it is the least used floor so the rooms are in the best condition. No good if you are not fit though. I include pictures of the second night hotel and the stairs...
Read moreI visited in June 2025, and overall, it was a good experience for the price. It's not super high-end, but definitely worth it for a budget stay. The location is excellent—most attractions are within walking distance.
There’s no in-house food service, pantry, or elevator, and occasionally the washroom had an odor, but nothing too concerning.
The receptionist was lovely—very cheerful, friendly, and helpful. They assisted me in booking several day tours and gave great recommendations, even helping me find options at very affordable rates.
I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a budget-friendly...
