Banh Khot Co Ba restaurant review. English/Spanish
Pros: , service, friendly staff, Cons: flavor
On April 2019 my friend and I were looking for a place to eat. We found This restaurant just walking by. when we got there, we were seated right away. The third place was spacious with some fans. We ordered the kitchen with lemon grass and the beef and rice plate. I also ordered Asparagus soup. The plates were small portions and my chicken and lemon grass was ok on taste. Only a few pieces of chicken and more lemon grass. My fiends plate, the beef was only ok he said. My soup was a bit cold. Before our food came out the power went out in the restaurant. It quickly starting getting hot in there. We couldn’t leave as we had already ordered. Over all, the place was ok and the food only ok. ———
Pros:, servicio, personal amable, Contras: sabor
Read moreThought we’d try this place because i was craving banh xeo and banh khốt. Vùng Tau is known for their banh khốt so since this restaurant was specifically representing Vùng Tau, what better place to try. The shop was very clean and spacious with nice furniture which looked high quality. The service was very nice and friendly from the aunty in the front. We tried the Banh Xeo, giới cuốn thơm thịt (park and port rice paper rolls) and banh khốt. The giới cuốn was nice (pretty hard to stuff this dish up). The banh xeo looked impressive. It was big, crispy in the right places and had mung bean which most places don’t add (they get a brownie point for this) as i grew up eating banh xeo with mung bean. Sadly, it was quite oily and overpowered the whole dish. The banh khốt was thin and Krispy, but again, too oily and by the middle of the meal, we sort of started feeling yuck. It is understood that nowadays, when cooking banh khốt, the chefs usually drench the pan with oil which in my opinion is lazy and destroys the dish. Anyways, overall it turned us off finishing our meals. Prices were a little on the expensive side...
Read moreThe food was great. Pricey, but great.
We were the only diners at the time we went. The meal was awkward because the wait staff just stood around staring at us. It was very weird. There were two standing outside looking in at us. Another one was leaning on a wall staring at us. And one more standing off to the side.
When my husband wondered aloud if they were going to watch us the whole time, they all suddenly remembered they had somewhere to be. After 10 minutes or so, they returned to their position and the staring commenced.
When it was time to go, we asked one lady for the bill. I think she was offended that we bothered her, because she gave us a hard look. Another waiter, noticing this jumped in to get our bill. He was a lot nicer than the woman.
Tip: The chilled hand wipes they place on your table, are not complimentary. You will be charged if you use it. We noticed it on the menu and did not use ours. Maybe that's what pissed off the waitress...
The meal was wonderful, but maybe it would be less awkward when the place...
