This was one of four hotels that we stayed at while touring Vietnam and was by far the most disappointing. It is a spa/massage/nail salon with a few hotel rooms located on top of it basically. We booked based on the image of the free standing bath tub as we assumed that if the bathroom is nice the rest would be too but there wasn’t even a bath in the room; the bathroom is a wet room so you have to hold the shower to wash yourself while trying not to wet your towel or the toilet paper or slip over on the shampoo which has gathered by your feet. Oh and on the first night there was no hot water at all. ||The breakfast is a few tiny bananas, some sliced bread and peanut butter which stays out permanently and is hence stale. ||Tourism is increasing rapidly in Vietnam and hence the service you get from most hotels in Vietnam is comparable to five star hotels in Europe with many staff all falling over themselves to attend to your every need, but not so with the Hyen Hotel and Spa! There is a 24 receptionist - two young men who seem to do a twelve hour shift each and whose purpose seems to be to open the door for you and play on their mobile phones. No map of the city with all the points of interest nicely circled for you “use google maps” we were told, no airport shuttle, no assistance arranging tours, basically no help at all, not even the ability to arrange a taxi for us which resulted in us almost missing our flight. ||If you are on business or know the city well and just want somewhere to sleep then the hotel is fine as the beds are very comfortable and it is a 10-15 min walk to the night market but if you are visiting HCMC for the first time I recommend that you stay somewhere else which places more importance on giving you a good...
Read moreI was honestly going to give the hotel a great review as my stay was going great until on my way to the airport, I realized that money had been stolen from my bag. I do understand that it should have been locked or with me, however, I forgot (a lapse in memory). I am now sick to my stomach with the fact that a staff member of the hotel went through my stuff and believes it is ok to go through someone’s belongings and steal someone’s hard earned savings. My sense of privacy was broken and now my experience at this hotel has been washed by this incident. I know that it was one member of the staff who stole the money, however, their behaviour reflects the morals and ethics of the entire hotel. At the beginning, i would have recommended this hotel. However, after this, I would never recommend this hotel due...
Read moreThe Hyen Hotel & Spa is an excellent choice for staying in Ho Chi Minh city. It's very conveniently located in District 1, and walking distance from a lot of great spots like the War Museum, the Ben Thanh Street Food Market and the Rex Hotel.
The rooms are stunning. My girlfriend and I booked the penthouse suite and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
The only reason why I did not commit to a five-star rating is that the breakfast included was a little simpler than I was expecting. It consisted of slices of bread, some jam and peanut butter, and some pre-made catering sized sandwiches.
Besides the unexpectedly small included breakfast, this place is a...
