I have never felt more disrespected by hotel staff than I have been today.

For context, I booked a room via Chase Rewards Travel for a premium room with the option of having 2 twin beds or 1 queen sized bed. Upon checking in, I was never given the option of which type room I was able to choose and they had already put me into a 2 twin-bed room. I was upset but did not make a big deal out of it at that time because me and my wife could have easily stayed together in one of the twin beds and if one of our friends/family needed to use the other bed after a late night out, then it should have been acceptable, or so I thought. This is acceptable at 100% of hotels I’ve stayed at.

Then the next day, a friend of ours met us at the hotel so that we could all go out together that night and he left some of his things in our room cause he had just gotten out of work that evening and brought clothes to change into. Fast forward to 11:40 pm that night, we drove into the parking lot with 2 vehicles and were immediately questioned about how many people were staying in our room and directed to the main lobby to discuss if a visitor could stay in our room. We went upstairs to lobby and asked if it would be okay if our friend stayed and they immediately said no even though our room had 2 beds to support. They said that visiting hours ended after 10pm and if the friend wanted to stay, they would have to book another room. While this sounds absolutely absurd, we did not want to argue and complied and I had to send my friend home to drive an hour-long drive home which is unsafe for him and embarrassing for me. I had my friend stay in the lobby while I grabbed his stuff quickly and brought it down to the lobby.

When I brought my friends backpack down, we had realized that I had forgotten a sweatshirt in the room so we both went up together to the room to double check if he had forgotten anything else before leaving. Immediately as we both entered the room, the hotel lobby staff called into our room and questioned why he had entered our room. I explained clearly that he was just double checking if he had forgotten anything but was still treated with disrespect. That means that they were monitoring our every move from the parking lot up to the room.

Then I sent my friend down to the parking garage to get his vehicle while I stayed in my room. However I wanted to talk to the hotel staff about their policies and express my frustration so I took a different elevator down to the lobby. I asked for a manager to talk to but was not granted that. Upon discussing with the hotel receptionist, he stated that the policies are in place for the safety of the hotel guests. However he could not explain that if they were monitoring our every move within the hotel with the security cameras, that they could not see that my friend was just going back up to the room to double check if he had all his things. This could’ve been seen clearly if they had checked the cameras from beginning to end and used some common sense. I expressed this but no clear explanation was given.

Then to add onto all of this, my friend informed me that when he went to get his vehicle, he was charged 30,000 VNĐ for parking when he was only within the hotel for 15 minutes or less. While he was leaving, the parking garage staff had immediately called the front lobby staff to inform them my friend was leaving. This was completely unnecessary and unwarranted.

I have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels within Ho Chi Minh City and across Vietnam and I have never been so outright disrespected and do not feel comfortable as a hotel guest when every single thing I do here is monitored and judged.

I believe this poor treatment started when I had snacks delivered via Grab to the hotel for me and my wife to share, during which I had felt the stares of judgement of many hotel staff. Is it because I chose not to order hotel room service because my wife prefers local cuisine???

Is this how you treat Vietnamese-American, foreign, or all...

I had a booking for 3 nights from June 6-9 at this hotel. And the receptionist lady at this hotel gave me the worst experience. I don’t know her name but I’m pretty sure the manager can find out her name if want to improve their front desk service First day when I checked in, according to the hotel policy, hotel will take deposit. She did not know how to charge my credit card and blamed that it is because of my credit card has issue. She explained that she never had any issues with other customer’s credit card before but me. Instead of trying again or enter the number, she kept insist saying it was my credit card. My husband said pls try again and it went through. I was not happy with how she dealt with the situation but it was fine. Next day, same girl. I told her that I had another booking for my mom on June8-June9 and I would like to request 2 twin beds instead of 1 double bed. I showed her the booking confirmation and my payment but she said she could not see the booking. I asked then what should we do now because I did have a booking confirmation and I already paid for it and now she told me she could not find it without giving me a solution. I left and came back at night and talked to different receptionist at the night shift. She was able to find my booking. I asked her pls take some note so next day, your inexperienced coworker could help my mom to check in without any other issues. On the day June 8th when I tried to help my mom to check in the room. Same lady who prob was annoying with me so she did not want to help me. I asked her if the room is ready. She told me just wait there for 5 mins because they were checking. She let me wait for 20 mins and I saw she did not even do anything. I asked my niece to come and check with her. Finally she got the key for us. I’m like so the room is ready the whole time and you just let your customers waiting. What kind of service was it!!!!!! Last day when I checked out. I came to the receptionist desk before another foreigner group and she helped that group before me. Pls educate this girl the basic rule: first come , first serve. I walked to a guy next to her so he could help me with the process. I asked if I could leave my luggage at the hotel and picked up after my lunch. After lunch, I came back and asked same guy and to pick up my luggage. She walked to me talked with an attitude asking me come to the concierge service to seek for help not receptionist desk. At that point, I could not stand for the terrible receptionist desk service at this hotel. I don’t want to blame all the staff because not all of them are bad but that specific one receptionist girl working day shift from June 6-9 was terrible and for sure I def don’t want to come...

Upon arrival at the hotel in Saigon, where I had booked a three-night stay, I was informed that I had been upgraded to a riverside view room. Unfortunately, this was not the generous offer it was made out to be. The room faced the main road as well, and the absence of double-glazed windows meant the nearly incessant road traffic noise was quite audible. The room itself was sufficient but on the small side (had an adjoining room door). The bathroom layout wasn't to my liking, as the shower compartment could not be fully closed, but this was a minor issue. Whether this applied to the length of time taken for the hot water to come through at both the shower and washbasin is perhaps a different matter - nearly 10 minutes plus every time. On the plus side, the shower had good water pressure, and shower gel was provided. A small fridge was available, but it was fully stocked with minibar items, leaving no space for my own beverages. However, the bed was very comfortable, and I slept soundly. The breakfast was very good - a varied selection of Asian dishes along with continental/western dishes. A longer staying guest may find it repetitive, however. The hotel's location was good, as some attractions and amenities, including a couple of 7-Elevens, are within easy walking distance or a short motorbike taxi ride away. The hotel staff were also very helpful. Based on my limited experience, I would stay here again (in a city view room) and would recommend this hotel. Special shout out to Thanh Nguyen (concierge) for helping with tour bookings and taxis.

Nice hotel along the river in Ho Chi Minh city. Stayed 2 nights for Tet. The front desk staff were friendly. The room was on the smaller side bit had a nice view of the river. I found the bed and pillows to be a little uncomfortable and the A/C struggled to keep the room cool even with the fan high and ser to 18 celcius. For this i deduced 1 star. The breakfast buffet is nice with a good selection. There is a small pool and bar on the roof were you can overlook the river while swimming and provide nice views in the evening. The food is a bit over priced and nothing to special flavor wise. I also deducted 1 star for the lack of communication and planning dor the Tet fireworks. The night before was told by staff they were not taking reservations and it was first come for seating. We showed up at 6pm and found a spot only to be told that it was reserved. Turns out they did take reservation if you brought a bottle of alcohol. We worked it out and puchased a bottle of alcohol and got a table. The poor planning came towards midnight when they allowed more people up on the rooftop for standing room viewing however they really didn't have the space so those last minute people stood up and blocked the view of those that has spent time and money for a table. Not a to big of deal we just and to stand up and move away from our table to see but others did not have the room to do that. The staff was not very apologetic for what transpired. Not sure if i would stay at this hotel again as there are other close by with nice views as well.

Friendly and well trained staff, helpful bag check for travelers and airport transfer if needed. Great location in D1 if you are walking, concierge is helpful with restaurants in the area. Extensive breakfast buffet with many options. Rooftop pool at the 25th floor has amazing views from the balcony. Downsides though: rooftop bar had the worst food I had my entire vacation, and it wasn't just me, the other 14 people I was with also ate there during our 5 day stay and all said it was just awful. The drinks are over priced because you're paying for the view I suppose. And the rooms are very warm, the air conditioning barely seems to work, and when we asked the hotel staff they checked and said that it was running normally. You have to keep your curtains closed and stick a card into the power slot to keep the air going even when you leave just to keep the room from being hot when you get back from being out. The location and views and great staff still make this a worthwhile hotel, but don't eat at the rooftop bar Vertical25, and be warned about the bad air conditioning.
