Sorry as our trip started from Ha Noi. Would have loved to see more of Ho Chi Minh though I will definitely come back to Vietnam where people at the hotel have been helpful where hotel has been clean even though simple too (apart from last night, where 1 of the people staying here at the hotel banged their door and made loud noise, the hotel has been pretty quiet and peaceful for good night's rest).
2 days wasn't enough for Ho Chi Minh city and surroundings too.
Ho Chi Minh is More than Just China. Look at the French Colonial Architecture. Then there's Indian and Rest of SE Asian History too via Wat Chantaransay, Buu Long Pagoda, Mariamman Hindu Temple, etc. These are what people want to see Worldwide than Just China Town as Ha Noi is Mostly Just Chinese and Vietnamese while Ho Chi Minh has Lots More than Just Chinese and Vietnamese including History.
Ha Noi architecture and culture is linked a lot to Chinese and Vietnamese with bit of western architecture and history too.
Look at USA which is 1 of the World's Most Visited nations where it has about Indigenous People, about All Migrants of Europeans, Africans and Asians for Cultures (same for many of the European Nations for Cultures of Food, Clothing, Music etc including at Museums).
Today, we went and saw Vietnam Quoc Tu Pagoda that's linked to Chinese/Vietnamese architecture, Wat Chantaransay (Chua Chantarangsay) that's SE Asian and Indian Architectural Style, buu long Pagoda with Indian and SE Asian Architectural Style as well as Ho Chi Minh Central Post Office with French Architectural Style and Saigon Opera House again with French Architectural Style.
Throughout our trip, we have enjoyed Vietnamese food which we had during lunch time and dinner too.
Also seen other places in Ho Chi Minh too.
Definitely love to return as have enjoyed the Vietnamese Trip Totally where Vietnamese people are Warm Loving, Friendly and Helpful though here and there there's bits and pieces of Racism like in any nation.
Love the food, clothing, architecture, and warm loving nature of Vietnamese people especially to Tourists and lots more.
15 years ago, if someone had told me about Cultures, I would have stated STEM Skills and Education as I was influenced by STEM since childhood but USyd Education 15 years ago, shifted my perspective where I learned lots more on Cultures of Food, Music, Clothing, Languages, Architecture etc.
I studied Accounting, Marketing, Information Technology and Business in Information Technology while worked in Information Technology and Digital Marketing.
Just having STEM isn't enough as Just Technical and Analytical Skills Alone Aren't Enough for Any Industry in 21st Century as need Basics of Humanities linked to Critical and Logical Thinking Skills where Humanities is connected to STEM, Arts and Social Sciences where Arts is linked to Creative Skills, Social Sciences is linked to both Relationship Building and Negotiation Skills.
That's why Culture is important including when Promoting Different Aspects of Cultures during Tourism too giving Each Client what they want with choices too without limitations and promoting diversity of Ho Chi Minh that has lots more cultures including history.
Anyway, I wish had more time at Ho Chi Minh but definitely next time will come for Ho Chi Minh (Mekong Delta was nice especially the Pagoda, Folk Music, Food as well as Relaxation Trip).
Thanks for everything and good luck to everyone for all your endeavors.
Wish could have made friends with Vietnamese people including staff as enjoy making friends worldwide. I love making friends worldwide as I have family from different parts of the World and I have grown up and lived in different nations making friends worldwide (If like to add me on my Instagram account 3rdculturekidglobalcitizen, feel free) but otherwise, thanks for all and hope can meet again.
Rohit Thomas from Australia with parents who lived worldwide which is how bro, sis and I grew...
Read moreIf you're looking for an affordable hotel within walking distance to every major location in Saigon, this is the one.
Make sure to let your taxi driver know to stop at the lane way number 36 on Lê Lợi street. Then you'll need to take a short walk to the end of the lane way. Reception is up 1 flight of stairs.
If you book the cheapest room like we do, the room is quite small to maneuver around. There is only a tiny window in the room for sunlight. Aircon is sooo good its cool the room down right away (youll appreciate this with Vietnams weather). Bathroom is nice and clean with limited sink snd counter space. You can use the desk instead for makeup or whatever else. But at the end, we're staying as a couple so not an issue. Also our main focus is good price while still having great service so this is nothing.
If you book the bigger room, you'll have a balcony and big sliding door out to it. Plenty of sunlight and room to walk around.
Breakfast buffet is small and okay food. I'd encourage the hotel to include more vegetarian/vegan options. At the moment, there is 1 savory dish only. Of course we can go for bread and spreads, fruits and desserts, but more savory dishes would be great. At the same time, it's a budget hotel so don't expect much. You can always eat out and explore anyway. Note: you can kindly ask for ice to make Vietnamese ice coffee even though it's not on the buffet coffee table ☕️
We stay here as a big group for a wedding so this spot is great for everyone. The walking street Nguyễn Huệ is 3 minute walk away, with so much to experience. Same short distances for laundry services, convenience stores, movie theaters. Although it's near the major streets, the place is tucked at the end of the laneway so your rooms will still stay quiet.
Also, take advantage of the number of cool hidden coffee shops within the laneway.
The biggest thing I like about this hotel is the service. Everyone is soooo nice and accommodating. We stay here for a whole week so I really get to know them all :) From the receptionists Daniel and Kelly - to the housekeeper Rosa - to the bellman Nick and Ricky - to chef Peter and Vivian. Always have a smile on their face and ready to assist you with any requests.
In short, highly...
Read moreThis boutique hotel is a hidden gem, tucked away at the end of a narrow alley. As we draw our luggage towards it, we were greeted by an unassuming facade covered by overhanging creepers. Our first thought was that we are in for a rough stay. Haha! However, the minute we were greeted by the staffs, our fear disappeared. They were infinitely friendly and genuinely helpful. So we say, that at least help us cross the first apprehension. Then we were confronted with a flight of stairs to conquer before reaching the reception. Again the friendly receptionist put our 2nd apprehension to rest. Everything about this hotel just look so narrow and compact. But again we reassure ourselves that since we have cleared the first 2 anxieties, things can't be that bad. We were booked for 3 deluxe rooms and were anxiously looking forward to check the room out. Finally we got our room key and was delighted to be assigned a suite. A free upgrade. As usual being a busy body, we can't help checking out each other's room. The deluxe was a good size room with queen size bed. Room was neat, tidy and have a great refreshing smell. The mini suite was bigger with a King size bed, a 2 seater sofa and a neat writing table and the usual freebies and a very decent bar fridge. Prices for the drinks in the fridge were really reasonable. How could I leave out the surprisingly large balcony with 2 full size sundeck plus a set stone table and chairs to host 4 friends. We had a very satisfying stay and would recommend it to anyone who is game for a...
