We realised after we booked two nights here that nearly all the great reviews on Google and Booking are fake. If you click on any of the reviewer's names on Google, you'll see that every one has left the same review for another four or five hotels in Vietnam. On both Google and Booking, all reviews are the same length, sound the same and don't have even a minor bad thing to say about this hotel. My girlfriend and I worked this out before we arrived, but gave it a go anyway and were unsurprisingly disapppinted. We arrived at 2am, and the woman running it woke up specially to let us in, which was much appreciated, especially as she was heavily pregnant. Walking up to our room on the second floor, there's a messy cafe on the ground floor and a very lived-in kitchen on the first floor. Our room looked tatty: there were lots of marks on the walls, and although they smelt like they'd been washed, the bedsheets didn't look clean as they had some stains on and were really crumpled. The mattress was very uncomfortable - it didn't fit the bed frame properly, was soft and you could feel the springs. We paid for the 'deluxe double room with balcony' which advertises itself as having its own bathroom - this turned out to be shared. The balcony was barely big enough to stand on and overlooked a construction site. The air conditioning worked okay at least. When we went down for breakfast (we paid for an included breakfast) we were made to feel quite awkward and unwelcome. There were two ladies working there and neither looked at or spoke to us. Whilst we questioned whether there was in fact a breakfast included, one of them brought over some fried eggs and bread. We got some coffee, followed up 30 minutes later by a whatsapp message from the owner saying drinks aren't included with the breakfast. Although the woman running the place seemed nice and helped us on our arrival and with sorting out an early breakfast, we moved somewhere else for our last night in the city. The atmosphere in the building was just uncomfortable, not to mention our room. All the fake fantastic reviews talking about the lovely staff, how comfy the beds are, the great views and delicious breakfast, only made us extra disappointed when none of it turned out to be real.

Clean, affordable and excellent serviced homestay in Saigon! The staff here are very helpful and professional. The room was clean, bed/pillow were comfortable and it was great that they had very good air conditioners. I will definitely stay at Masion Homestay again on my next trip!
