New Star Inn Boutique Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

SCAM ALERT!!! SHADY BUSINESS & GANGSTER!! The hotel staff told us to make a deposit to secure the room but when we came to check-in, they overbooked their rooms. The staff was very rude and she didn’t even show any apologetic attitude towards us and told us to go to other hotels nearby when the price went up more than double compared to what we booked with them in the middle of the night. They were not willing to refund the money we sent them beforehand and wanted to make things complicated so that we gave up on the deposit and let them took advantage of the money. They even called their security guard inside watching us to make us leave under the pressure. Of course eventually we did not give up and got our deposit back but there was NO COMPENSATION, NO APOLOGY and we were ditched outside to sort things out on our own with a pile of luggage. I warn you guys not to book this hotel and get into unnecessary trouble and anger during your trip. Vietnam is a nice place to travel and many Vietnamese people are lovely so don’t let your first contact with the country ruined by some malicious people in this hotel. The hotel is not as described in the pictures AT ALL. Our room and stank of smoke, filtering in underneath the bedroom door and also through the fan in the bathroom, which also carried a lot of noise from the bathroom above us below.|The room was dirty as there are moth eggs all over the bedroom walls, especially in the corners, which are also stained. |We booked a room without a window which is fine as that was what we paid for, however is handy to note that rooms without a window have a small upper window facing the hallway, which floods light in throughout the nice, making a sleep in darkness impossible. The floors and hallways are tiled which carries noise v easily. |The staff were rude - the woman at reception only spoke to us asking us for our room number and key (after we had checked in, left the hotel for a walk and came back),which didn’t make us feel too welcome. |I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels during the month in Vietnam and unfortunately this was the worst for comfort,...

Excellent location, close to a park, market, main attractions.|Friendly staff, they helped me with my suitcase, opened the door every time, and brought an iron upon request.|Breakfast was good, rice, noodles, vegetables, fruits, soup, drinks, everything was ok. Very nice woman in the kitchen.|The room was spacious but did not look fresh, the furniture was very old. There was a kettle and cups. Cleaning upon request.
