Me and a friend individually booked a bed in a dorm at the beginning of Nov for 2 nights. We were due to arrive in Ho Chi Minh after midnight. I messaged to check during the day that it would be okay to check in so late and was told I would receive instructions later. Later that day my friend received a welcome pack and check in details from a different number/person but I received nothing and couldn’t get a reply from the person I had spoken to. Fortunately for me my friend was able to get the info for me to check in otherwise had I been alone I would have arrived in the early hours of the morning unable to enter or reach anyone. After staying in many hostels on our way down the country from the north I can safely say that this is the worst one we saw. Besides the terrible communication, the place is dirty and smelly. We both woke up the following day and agreed we should find somewhere else to stay. The receptionist was nice and did offer us a refund for the 2nd night. However I feel I should leave this honest review as the 9.1 rating it has on Hostelworld did not seem accurate in...
Read moreThis hostel was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had! From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt like part of a family. Nona, the host, is such a warm and generous person. Her warmth and friendliness made me feel instantly at home. When I got there, they were just finishing a rooftop karaoke session after having cooked together. It was such a perfect introduction to the place. The atmosphere is so cozy and familiar, especially because it’s smaller, which makes it so easy to connect with other travelers. I loved being able to chat with everyone and make new friends so quickly. The location is perfect, the vibe is unmatched, and anytime you need help with tours or anything, they're always there for you. I cannot recommend this hostel enough .It’s the perfect place if you want a genuine, heartwarming experience. I’ve stayed in many hostels, but this one is truly special. If you're coming to Vietnam and HCMC, don’t miss out on staying here! It was hands down the best hostel experience I’ve ever had! And Nona... she’s honestly the kindest...
Read moreThis is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at, of quite a few. It’s a neat building, the rooms are A/C’d, and the location is good, but above all, the staff are amazing and have dedicated a lot of time and attention to creating a super friendly environment, with weekly events and impromptu hang out sessions. There are two communal spaces (one, a lovely rooftop patio) to hang out.
The staff are always around to help you out with recommendations (they always sent me to tasty local restaurants) and just to get to know you and to share about their lives, so I felt like I was leaving friends when I checked out.
It’s reasonable walking distance from all of Ho Chi Minh City’s main attractions, but tucked in an alleyway such that there is no traffic noise in the room. You do have to walk up a lot of stairs to access the rooms.
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in HCMC then this is the place!! I will absolutely be going back on my next visit. Thank you Kate and all the staff...
