How many hotel managers will put you on the back of their motorcycle and take you to various pharmacies, looking for an obscure medicine? How many would give you a lift down to the big market where foreign brands of liquor can be purchased for a fraction of the price of the local tourist outlets? How many would offer you all kinds of advice on every manner of activity, and then make arrangement for you to get it a LOCAL prices? How many would front you some cash on the way out of town, and let you pay it back when you returned? Such is the nature of Mr. Hill (I'm sure I'm misspelling his name, but that's the way it comes out in English - forgive me) who not only became a friend, but regaled us with his award-winning photography during out stay. No request was too much for him and his staff. The room was simple but had an amazing balcony - the staff brought in extra chairs (and even an extra business desk). Located on a quiet side street (believe me, you will never be sorry you chose this location) but steps from all the activity, The Legend is just about the best deal, Dong for Dong, that a person could find. Read moreReally cosy and wonderful place, and lovely hosts. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed very comfortable, especially after a day of hiking! Sapa as a whole is cold this time of year, so would recommend bringing good clothes- but found the heater in my room, shower, and warm fire downstairs in the dining room area all to be cosy. Pho breakfast (other options available too), ginger tea and egg coffee were all great and perfect to warm up during winter.
Staff were incredibly helpful, generous with their time and great at providing advice- including booking tickets to go up to Fansipan, and lending me an extra warmer jacket of their own to keep me toasty and warm where I was a bit underprepared for how cold it would be. Loved my stay and would love to return again, especially during spring or summer to get clearer weather more...
Read moreWe booked into a tour staying in 3* Hotel for 2 nights. This hotel showed as a 2* on the itinerary. The room smelt, had mould in the bathroom and the bed was like lying on a plank of wood. There is no soundproofing in the hotel, so anyone in the restaurant below or walking around can be heard. The WiFi password had a spelling mistake, which we figured out but is printed on all the door keys and we had trouble with hot water not working. The attached restaurant was good and this review is only...
