Sapa Review

Bob was my guide for Sapa from 24 - 29 Nov 23. It was my first solo trip and I was glad i chose Sapa and Bob.

Part 1 - Everything was planned and executed by Bob when I told him my rough agenda. I mainly wanted to focus on hiking and homestays. And he planned the itinerary as such. He took great effort to make sure I was comfortable with all details and he did not rush me into making decisions. He let me know all the cost breakdowns and gave his frank opinions as well. He gave me pictures of train cabins and homestays and allowed me to choose whichever I was comfortable with. Any questions were answered very quickly, which allowed me to make my decisions quick as well. He also will once a while check in with me via WhatsApp just to enquire how I am and how I am doing, which was really nice.

Part 2 - I was welcomed by Bob at NOI airport and the moment I saw him, I felt a sense of comfort and familiarity, which kept me at ease as I was a little jittery due to this being my first solo trip. His kindness, cheerfulness and chirpiness kept me calm and happy. He even got me a beautiful huge cake as a surprise when I entered the train cabin just because my birthday was just the day before! Too sweet! I was speechless and was very touched by his act of kindness. He always made sure I was comfortable and was really genuine about it and that touched my heart. He always made sure he was 30mins before the planned timing to meet, so that he can ensure all is well prepared before I meet him for the day. His quick thinking and vast range of networking, especially when I made some last minutes changes, were really commendable and appreciated. He did not leave any stone unturned in his planning and execution.

I would recommend Bob, to anyone keen to travel to Sapa or even anywhere else within Vietnam, as he will definitely give only his best to his clients.

We had an amazing experience exploring Vietnam with Bob as our guide. From the very beginning, he was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the places, able to distinguish between fake and original stuffs around and incredibly helpful. Before we actually planned to Vietnam, we contacted him to provide us the best itenery and provided with very comfortable, relaxing places to visit every day.

From the time we reached there, he received us on time and took us to all best places, both famous landmarks and hidden gems making our trip truly memorable.

A must say fact about Bob is that his planning was excellent – everything was well-organized from the 9-seater car that holds all our luggage and he ensured that we are always comfortable throughout the trip. He was best in explaining out the history of the place, culture and traditions of Vietnam in a very engaging way which made our journey even more meaningful.

Bob went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed every moment of our stay, being it was a suggestion of delicious food, best Indian restaurants around, taking pictures of our family or giving us a useful tip for shopping. His standards were up to the expectation and his professionalism was must to highlight about that made us feel safe and cared throughout the trip from Hanoi to Sapa.

Bob had never urged us on time and he was ensured that we are ahead of things for the day to enjoy the places he actually planned for us. Our kids especially liked him so much as he was very kids friendly too.

Bob has been the best tour guide - our trip wouldn’t have been the same without him. He helped us so much before our trip to organise everything (transfers and accommodation) and he was always so quick to reply to any questions or concerns that we had. He has fantastic English and he’s such a funny, kind and generous person.

Over our 4 days we didn’t have to worry about anything as Bob arranged everything from food to accommodation to the activities. But he was very flexible if we wanted to ever change any of the plans. We actually extended our time with him because it was so beautiful and it he was great to spend time with.

Sapa is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been and Bob enhances the experience with his local knowledge and experience of the different hikes and activities, giving us a full history of the area, always happy to answer the questions that we had along the way. We wanted something away from the busy tourists and Bob took us to these amazing remote villages. I’d recommend messaging him through WhatsApp so you can personalise your trip and contact him directly - this is what I did.

With Bob it didn’t feel like he was a tour guide but instead just a friend showing us his favourite places. On the last night he welcomed us into his family home for a meal, it was so special to meet his family and the food was delicious.
