Absolutely Disgraceful Customer Service – We Will Never Return

My family has been shopping at this butcher for over 10 years, buying meat almost every 3-4 weeks. Today was the last time.

While checking out with over $70 worth of meat, my wife accidentally forgot to take out a small pack of pork stomach which is only $6 from her large shopping bag. Instead of politely clarifying or listening to her explanation, the cashier pointed at her face and loudly accused her of being a thief—again and again. No conversation, no decency—just flat-out humiliation.

Let me be clear: if someone intended to steal, would they be purchasing a full bag of meat at the same time?

Reputation means everything to us. After experiencing such humiliation, we returned all the meat we had purchased—not asking for any refund—not because of the money, but because we simply cannot bring ourselves to eat food associated with that level of disgrace.

When I went back to explain the situation, the same staff member saw my bag and immediately said, “You are thieves.” Absolutely unbelievable.

For such humiliation, I had no choice but to dump all the meat on the floor in front of the staff, customers, and the manager, and declare that I would never shop there again. At that moment, the manager finally showed up and asked me to calm down.

We are no longer customers of this business. And I strongly urge others to reconsider before supporting a shop that treats long-term customers this way.

This 3 stars gives to the senior asian lady in check out courter. Btw, I am also an Asian. We visited this place few times, the good quality meat with an appropriate price. When I checked out today I had a glimpse on the screen shown the total price is $31.9, but that lady told me I need to pay $32, so I thought maybe the price rounded off probably? But I still pointed out the price shown on the screen is $31.9. That lady kept silence with a sardonic grin then asked me back “you supposed me change 1cent to you?” As a customer, this is my first time to be asked back in that way. Then I told her I have right to speak my confusion out, you can tell me, I can understand, but I don’t like the way you talking etc. That lady directly told me “leave me alone” then also told me “go to argue with my manager” looks like her manager supports her serve customers like this. what an arrogant lady! In this financial tough period, this kind of person gonna be the first tier people...

I normally go to Hauff’s Butchery for beef, and they rarely disappoint. Their Wagyu, in particular, is always top quality — tender, flavorful, and definitely a cut above what you’d find in the supermarket. That’s the main reason I keep coming back.

However, today I picked up some USA pork ribs and was a little let down. Out of the two racks I bought, one had a thick layer of fat across the back, and the other one was very bony with hardly any meat on it. It just didn’t feel like the same level of quality and value I usually get here.

Overall, I still trust Hauff’s for beef, especially their Wagyu, but I’ll probably skip the pork...
