Visiting ACMI Cinemas in Melbourne was an experience that felt both exciting and immersive. The moment I stepped inside, I could sense the passion for film and storytelling that filled the space. The sleek, modern design and the anticipation of watching something special made the atmosphere even more thrilling. I loved how ACMI wasn’t just about movies—it was about the art of cinema. Whether it was a classic film, an indie gem, or a thought-provoking documentary, each screening felt like a unique journey. The high-quality sound and visuals made every moment on screen come to life, drawing me in completely. Walking out after a film, I always felt inspired, as if I had experienced something more than just a movie. ACMI Cinemas left me with a deeper appreciation for film and a love for Melbourne’s vibrant arts scene.

Great resources on Film and its origins with models of early animation techniques. Informative permanent displays but also limited time exhibits A very good shop and perfectly located in federation Square.

Just visited the ACMI theatre whilst on a year 12 exam revision lecture, I made the poor mistake of purchasing an (overpriced) toasted sandwich, I was only given a 10 minute break to eat my food for the entirety of the day. After trying to renter the theatre I was told no hot food was allowed so I started to eat my toastie outside, the usher(a lady with very short red hair) stood watching me the entire time, feeling under pressure I decided to only eat half and save the rest for later. The lady then rudely told me I wasn’t able to do that and told me to throw it in the bin, disappointed in my waste of sandwich I threw it out and proceeded to go back to the theatre when I was stoped by the most unnecessary comment “I didn’t tell you to buy food” followed by “you can stop giving me attitude” I was disappointed yes but never showed her attitude, I had no problem with this lady up until this point. I replied “I’m not giving you attitude” and in response she mockingly laughed at me, I then tried to explain how I was upset that our class didn’t get time to eat and she interrupted me with a very loud, rude “Excuse me!” Being quite upset and shocked at this experience I sat down and she proceeded to glare at me from afar. I will not be coming back here ever again and this lady needs a stern talking to on how to treat customers especially when they may be inconvenienced, she was highly unprofessional and...

ACMI stages many great movies covering a wide programme for a broad audience. Many are eclectic films well worth exploring, all delivered in state of the art cinemas. Just saw 'Living' starring the talented Bill Nighy, a re-telling of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece. (Also screening) A poignantly moving...
