Transport Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been here a few times to give it a shot. Transport bar is conveniently located by Flinders Street station and Federation Square, as a bonus there is always an event going nearby. It's also a pleasant looking place to have a drink with a few mates and that's why I'm giving this place a generous two stars.

Aside from the location and scenery , Transport bar has little to offer. The food is probably the worst in Melbourne and overpriced. Same thing with the coffee. The past few times I've eaten there , my food has either been burnt , frozen, or not even delivered (after waiting over 40 minutes) Staff also has attitude when they make a mistake. After waiting for my food that never arrived, I was told by one of the employees named Jax that I could have a refund or not and if not then to just get out of her way because she is busy.

Been here during the day and night time and have had a better time during the day. During the night , customers are always starting fights and there is broken glass on the floor that is left unattended. To add to that you have seedy security guards who are always hitting on your women. Who wants that?

Bad service. Below average food and coffee quality and sleazy security guards. Transport bar , you can be so much more. I guess management cares more about selling beer and your money than anything else.

Last but not least , I noticed a bartender ( Irish or Scottish guy I think based on heavy accent ) passing a suspicious baggie into another female employees pockets. Shady. And would make sense why some of the employees always seem on edge.

No thanks. So many other places to have a good time in Melbourne , especially if you go closer to Melbourne Central.

PLEASE DON'T GO HERE. Read the story please..I came there today with my baby on the pram. I was walking with her at the Federation square and wanted to grab something to eat. I approached the front entrance and this security guard called "93" was standing at the entrance. He asked me to scan the code. My iPhone is on repair with Vodafone so they gave me a temporary phone until I get my phone fixed. With this phone I can't scan codes so I have been writing my name down instead. Have been doing this in other places and never had any issues. I told the security guard that I can't scan the code as the camera in my phone doesn't work and I will write my details down. He looked at me and in a very rude manner and said " that's not my problem your phone is not working you can't come in". I was shocked. He then proceeded to start yelling at me when I said I will write my name in a paper. What a horrible experience. I betch this guy doesn't like Asian people as the way he looked at me was like I am a second class citizen. I was with a baby for heaven sake just wanted to spend time with my child. This guard ruined my whole evening. How pathetic and ridiculous way this is to treat a customer like this. Please don't go here guys. If you want to get treated as a second class citizen in a horrible way stay away from this place. They don't even deserve one...

We visited Transport Bar for some pre-dinner drinks and bites before our family dinner, and it did not disappoint. The vibe was lively and modern, making it a great spot to unwind before a meal.

We ordered the Chicken Wontons with Toasted Sesame Dressing – a solid 10/10. These were absolutely delicious: packed with flavour, generously sized, and beautifully paired with a fresh salad that complemented the sesame dressing perfectly.

The Mixed Mushrooms with Provolone and Rosemary Pizza was another standout – also 10/10. This dish is a favourite of my husband’s, and he never misses the chance to order it when he visits with his mates. Rich, savoury, and satisfying, it’s a must-try.

The service was friendly and efficient once we got settled, but as first-time visitors, we found it a little confusing at first to figure out where to order food and drinks. That said, once we worked it out, the staff were warm and helpful. Overall, we’d give service a 9/10.
