Okay, I was this close to giving this place five stars. I really was. But something was off—I could feel it in my bones, deep down in the pits of my soul, like something was lurking behind the walls, just waiting. At first, I thought, 'Okay, fine, it’s just me, maybe I’m being paranoid,' but then it all started to fall apart.
For starters, the chicken—right? It wasn’t battered in those secret herbs and spices like I specifically asked. I’m not crazy, I KNOW I asked for that. And you can’t just ignore a request like that, not when it’s this important. It’s the whole vibe of the place, y’know? The essence. Without that, it’s like everything else is just... a little wrong. A little off.
And THEN—I saw him. Richard. Across the room, like some kind of ghost. Richard. He was sitting there, eating a Butter Chicken Red Rooster roll of all things! Are you KIDDING me? Of all the people, he had to be there, right at that moment, messing with my head, twisting the reality of it all. I mean, I thought I was hallucinating for a second, but no—no, it was really him. I don’t know how you let someone like that in, but it threw off my whole experience.
So, yeah, I was ready to give you five stars, but after that, it’s down to 4.9. But of course, as a serious food critic, I have to round down. I can’t just ignore what happened. So… four stars. But I’m still wondering if I imagined the whole thing. Did anyone else see him? Was it the chicken? Was it me? I don’t know anymore. Anyway. Four stars. And that’s...
Read moreTried the new “Taste of India” Restaurant. It has changed name again and Under new Egyptian owners Sabha and her husband. She encouraged our party of 7 to come back on a Saturday night where there will be live music and dancing. We will come back to try the breakfast buffet from 12pm-3pm which includes desserts and drinks. The new owners were lovely to talk too-very welcoming and gave us some Indian Sweets to try after our dinner. We all had the standard Marsala Dosai. We tried butter roti & butter naans, washed it all down with some Chai Tea. The service was very friendly, and food came out quite fast and hot. Loved the crispness of the dosai, the potato filling was very tasty( i honestly think you can add like two tablespoons more), it comes with extra condiments(all quite flavoursome). The order of chilli chicken with rice was very good, just the right amount of spice and Chicken was fried. I loved trying the pan Puri. I liked that we could wash our hands and the openness of the restaurant, cleanliness and atmosphere. Give it a go! Couldn't...
Read moreI visited taste of india recently, where the ambience was one of the few highlights—comfortable and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations.
I ordered Pav Bhaji and Chole Bhature, both of which were disappointing. The bhatura tasted oily , likely due to old oil, and was far from the fresh version you hope for. The pav was overcooked, dry, and lacked the softness that makes this dish enjoyable. The chole lacked flavor and depth, making the meal feel underwhelming.
Additionally, I opted for a masala tea takeaway, which was a complete disaster. After one sip, I couldn’t continue—it was badly tasted off. Given the price of the meal, I expected much better quality.
While the menu has good variety, if they can’t execute basic dishes like pav bhaji and chole bhature, I have little confidence in the rest of the offerings. Overall, it felt overpriced and underwhelming. I won’t...
