I travelled 2 hours for Mad Mex as this is the closest store to me and to say I was highly disappointed is an understatement. I hate leaving google reviews but the service and food quality was that poor I cant not.
Firstly, we walked in and a worker was dusting the glass covering the ingredients while food was being made, thats not very hygienic considering the dust was falling onto the food. This person was also in the way of the customers and didn’t move until the dusting was done. Secondly, the service was horrible, I felt as though my presence was irritating the person serving me, no body spoke anything other than ‘what can I get you?’ Then asking what fillings, no hello or anything like that, barely even looked at the customers but could have conversations between themselves. As somebody who works in hospitality, its really not that hard to pretend to be happy when you greet customers! Also, the food wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great, my tomato was in 2 mouthfuls, wasn’t spread out and I also didn’t get everything I asked for, I didn’t repeat myself bc I already felt as though the man behind the counter didn’t even want to be there, let alone make my food. Really disappointed, you need to train your staff on interacting with customers better, some good customer service would go a...
Read moreLota served me, and didn't say the quacamole was $2 extra. Didn't even mention it. When I went to pay, the cashier was told "it's a chicken burrito and quacamole," so I ask the cashier what the relevance of that is.
"It's $2," she says, and I tell her I'm not paying it. The server offering all the items didn't say anything about the extra $2.
The cashier didn't charge me, which was great, but I'm sure Lota has done this before, and will still be doing it now. Immediately after me she tried doing it to my partner.
And when confronted with it ("You didn't say anything about the price") she shrugged with an insipid smile and pointed at the menu, as if every customer is supposed to have read and memorised the whole thing before placing an order. What crap.
I love the food, but this is the second time this same worker has buggered me around, so the 1 star is for you.
(And it's the principle of the thing. Paying $2 is easy, but not even being told about it? After you've been offered all the free things [lettuce tomato whatever] ) is sheer disrespect to...
Read moreSo I could never doubt the food, the food is always great and honestly can't say anything negative about the quality. Staff are usually all really lovely, but today I attended the penrith store to grab some lunch with a friend, the gentleman who served us was lovely and I had no problem with him, whatsoever, but he had left for whatever reason, right after serving us. As we sat there, we watched one of the female employees completely ignore the customers standing there for atleast 5minutes while she was too busy on her phone. Once she served the customers and actually did her job, we witnessed her down 3 margaritas within about 2 minutes. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to work while under the influence of alcohol, nor is it safe. I honestly thought Mad Mex was a family restaurant, young children don’t want to witness this kind of behaviour nor do I. If I wanted to watch someone chug 3 margaritas, I would have hit Ivy up not Madmex. Your employee's really need to do a refresher in their RSA's because thats definitely not responsible...
