A friend and I were keen to try this restaurant given its great reviews. What a terrible letdown it was! We had dinner there on a Friday night in March, and the restaurant was only half full (i.e. not a night when the busyness of the restaurant can excuse what subsequently happened…) We ordered a selection of 4 Meze plates, including the spanakopita (surely a very commonly ordered dish in a Greek restaurant?). Our young waitress had trouble understanding what spanakopita was, requiring us to point out that it was the “spinach pie”. The meze plates were quite good, but the spanakopita never arrived. Having finished the rest of our dinner, we gave up waiting and cancelled the spanakopita. There were no apologies from our waitress.
We decided to order the “dessert for two” instead. This consisted of two small triangles of very dry baklava accompanied by two tiny scoops of vanilla ice cream at a cost of $24! Do not be deceived, it was certainly not the delicious desert with cherry and raisin ice cream described on the website. So disappointing, so expensive!
When it came time to pay the bill, another (apparently more experienced) waitress said to us (actual quote) “oh we found your spanakopita by the way. It was at the back of the oven, all burnt.. The timer didn’t go off!!”. Is there a Sophie? Does she know about this? A total disaster.
*RESPONSE TO SOPHIE Thank you Sophie for your reply, which is very much appreciated. It is clear that you were operating under very challenging circumstances on the evening that we visited. I would certainly like to give the restaurant another try and will message...
Read moreThe worst experience I have ever experienced in my life. I have been to so many restaurants and never have I experienced what I experienced tonight. I booked 2 weeks ago to celebrate my mother in laws bday and unfortunately due to covid and other family members being unwell we had to reschedule because Sofie had to think about giving me back my refund. Tonight was suppose to be the night to celebrate however due to my sister in law getting sick it was cancelled. I called sofie and yes it was a bit late notice however I myself only found out about the situation and the way she spoke to me on the phone was so rude and disrespectful when i informed her that it would now only be myself and husband attending. We felt bad so myself and my husband thought as a good gesture we would still go and have a nice dinner. What a mistake that was as soon as we got there sofie spoke to us in the most disrespectful and rude way more like a scolding. Lets just say I have never been spoken to like that at a restaurant by a restaurant owner ever. We should have not gone or just left at that point. The food was good however the damage was done and the experience was ruined by Sofies disrespectful behaviour towards us. As we went to pay Sofie did apologise and said that she had to vent and once she vented if you wanna call it venting she felt better. I don't know you Sofie I am a customer and quite frankly you don't and should not treat customers that way. I was so angry but kept my composure as I did not want to make a scene in front of other diners in the restaurant. I will never...
Read moreThe most delicious Greek food in Sydney!! The reviews looked good so I called up to ask if there was a table free, and spoke to Peter (he and his wife Sofie are the owners). Peter and Sofie are both the nicest, most warm and welcoming hosts - this came through talking to Peter on the phone and both me and my girlfriend had a good chat and a few laughs with them both when we left.
The food here is delicious and very original. For entrees we ordered the haloumi/sundried tomato bread with chilli olive oil - so soft and tasty! Also the beef dolmades which are huge, served hot on fresh yoghurt and so beautifully presented - a far cry from the packet ones that get put on a plate in other estabishments. For mains we ordered a salad to share (fig, feta, pomegranate, pumpkin and spinach) which was delicious and again so original. The flavours really worked. My girlfriend than had an eggplant stack (vege dish) and I had chicken with spinach/mushroom sauce/asparagus on a bed of mash - again, absolutely delicious. I was so full by the time I got to this stage that I only had a quarter of it before giving up - I had to ask for a takeaway box and will be enjoying it...
