I barely write review, only write when something is too bad or too good. This restaurant is a phenomenon , it is beyond my expectation when we got there was like uhm let give a try. We made a right choice. I am so happy, finally I have a place to get very authentic Vietnamese food, my hubby is so happy since he can be lazy to go here to get food instead of cooking for himself when I can not cook for him :).
My first impression, the restaurant ambience is modern yet traditional, cozy and warm. It is good to run here to hide cold wind outside My order was bbq pork with vemicelli ( bun thit nuong), omg the meat was so tender with charcoal grill fragrance, it is truly Bun Thit nuong. Their fish sauce is the best! You must try.
My hubby order was Bun Bo Hue, I love Bun Bo Hue so much but this time I let him try first. First time in his life in Canada he can get real taste of Bun Bo Hue he said it is 100% authentic one like he had long time ago in his hometown. I tried a bit from his bowl, yeah it is so Bun Bo Hue, you can feel lemongrass and shripm paste flavor in their broth. We then tried together fresh spring rolls, it is just so delicious with sauce.
Our dessert was simply Che Buoi ( pomelo skin sweet soup) I bet you can not find this Che in Vietnamese restaurant here, it is just so special and delicious.
Their price may look a bit pricy but when you start to bite food, you know it is worth every penny.
You can see their effort in making their restaurant be a leading one in town, all their plate and bowls are designed for their restaurant. I enjoyed food hee very much. It is my frequent place to go from...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing restaurant. Their food is definitely one of a kind that you can't find anywhere else in Edmonton. I have eaten here a few times and have had bun dau mam tom (rice vermi with tofu and fermented shrimp paste), pho, bun thit nuong (Hanoi style rice vermi with grilled pork), banh cuon (rice rolls) and bun bo Hue. *Food Hanoi style bun thit nuong: Delicious grilled pork belly and pork meatballs. The saltiness, sweetness and savoriness of the dish were very balanced. The pork meatballs had a lovely texture. As with any viet dishes, this one came with a nice selection of the freshest herbs. Bun dau mam tom: Didn't have much expectation because you can't really find this dish outside (or even inside) of Vietnam but I was pleasantly surprised. The dish had a nice selection of toppings, with fried tofu, boiled pork belly, fried vietnamese sausage and a lot of fresh herbs. Noodles was perfectly divided into cubes and the toppings were very well seasoned. The mam tom (fermented shrimp) could be better but its very difficult to find good quality mam tom here. The other dishes were all delicious with good quality beef and complex broth. Overall a great spot. If you miss the food in Vietnam I highly...
Read moreWe were there the others day for the first time and it was terrible. Family owned business run by themself and no one seems to be happy. None of them got a smile in their faces and no showed positive energy whatsoever. Near homeless shelter make it a place to feel unsafe while having foods and check on your vehicle 🤣 The menu was so boring and sad with just basics and what they call special menu which is not special at all 🤭 and not even available during the whole week. Special Pho for $20 and didn’t make by the real pho noodles, meat portion was too little for the price and the soup tastes plain as hell. Bun Bo Hue was not even better, tasted nothing like the authentic one 🙃 Too little for veggie and no sauces on the table so you need to ask it and they will give you time after time, not even enough for the food such a cheap experience. The rice was not even finished cooked. Overall I wish i could rate them -10 or as negative rating as possible as it is too much for this level of service and food. We will never come back and omg we need more legit reviews as they are having 4.7 as a joke. The owner and the chef have no idea how bad themself and their business are. Stay away...
