I love how authentic and original Edmonton’s Chinatown still is. Food and housing is affordable, it’s very walkable, lots of parking available, and it’s just an amazing community with a LOT of resilience. The fact that all these families are able to co-exist with the city’s greatest concentration of houselessness speaks volumes and I respect that so so much.

We finally visited Chinatown in late autumn. The Gate of "Happy Arrival" is one of the landmarks. The shops here are historical and feel like a colorful version of scenes from black and white movies produced in Hong Kong during the 1950s to 1970s. It seems like someone wearing a cheongsam would walk out of these shops. It is quite interesting.

I would say this Chinatown is probably one of the worst I've been to unfortunately. There are groups of people congregating that are unfortunately down on their luck. I didn't feel safe walking alone in the area. However businesses are still open, and there are things to try like bakeries and restaurants, be alert in this area.

China Town will Always be one of my favorite part of Edmonton even if it is getting old! My friend took a whole bunch of pictures of the stores and restaurants also signs and buildings before they all got replaced by the new places they have now and i asked for copies to keep for myself. I will always hope that they can keep it from shutting down too. I was disappointed when I saw that they moved the China Gates because we always put coins in their mouths and rolled around the ball before making a wish for someone and walking through them knowing we renewed our Luck. I got to say that the food is awesome my favorite is the BBQ pork and duck place and the Bakeries have the Best fresh real cream and fruit cakes Ever!! AS well as the Tea Bar Cafe is where I go to just be alone and have a great dessert and watch a movie or read magazines and sometimes just go there to have a beer on my own and hide from the world. the Bahn Mi subs are also why i go there and the gift shops and clothing stores ARE AWESOME!! if you take the time to look around in the stores and not whos hanging outside them you will find that these places have hard working Family Owned places that kept for generations of people who deserve more credit then most stuck up people I see are posting their ugly opinions on here. And yes I love Etown!! CHINESE NEW YEARS Lion Dancers and the stories about the dance and Cultures too. Vietnamese Chinese Korean...

Ive been stabbed 7 seperate times here. Narcanned more times than i can count now. Tazed 4 times. I've done the stabbing a few times myself. Out of self defense, of course.

You ever been stabbed with a knife? How about a dirty needle? Both for me.

If you are looking for drugs, dirty needles, junkies passed out or overdosed and otherwise. If you want danger, and violence then you are in the right place, friend. Step right up.

If you really want adventure then come at night. And bring money. Junkies need yer cash and you might live longer if youve got something to offer. See...
