Absolutely loved my winter evenings at the Esplanade Tranquille Ice Skating Rink! I’ve tried my fair share of rinks, but this one is something special. Right in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, this spot is not just a rink—it’s a vibe. First off, the rink is totally free to use. Yes, free! You only pay if you need to rent skates or gear, but the ice itself is yours to enjoy at no cost. And trust me, you’ll want to enjoy it: the rink is massive (1,500 m²!), perfectly maintained, and can fit up to 400 skaters, so there’s always room to glide or show off your moves. But what really sets it apart is the atmosphere. The rink is lit up with interactive video projections in the evening, making you feel like you’re skating through a winter wonderland straight out of a movie. There are themed nights with music from classical to disco, turning the ice into a giant dance floor. The vibe is always lively, friendly, and full of energy—perfect for families, friends, or even a solo skate under the city lights. The pavilion is super welcoming, with a cozy café (hot espresso, anyone?), heated balconies, and plenty of space to relax before or after your skate. Plus, the whole place is accessible and well-equipped with lockers and changing rooms. Honestly, Esplanade Tranquille is not just a rink—it’s a winter experience. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is where you’ll find the prettiest, most festive ice in Montreal. Highly recommended for anyone looking to embrace the magic of a Montreal winter! ⛸️✨

The ice skating rink at Esplanade Tranquille in Montreal is a perfect winter activity for those seeking a laid-back, festive experience. While not the largest rink in the city, it’s an ideal size for a casual skate. The ice is well-maintained, providing a smooth surface for skaters of all levels. The surrounding twinkling lights create a magical, winter wonderland atmosphere, and the rink is lively without feeling overcrowded. If you don’t have your own skates, rentals are available for a reasonable $14. It’s the perfect place to skate at your own pace while enjoying the charming surroundings. Free skate rink with neon lights and good vibes. We rented our skates but I’d recommend you to buy your own skates & use the lockers for free. It’ll be crowded after 7pm but we still had a great time here.

The skating rink is free and very busy. The place is beautiful and the quality of the ice was excellent. There is a table outside showing the schedule (including the maintenance time). Inside, there are many lockers, so bring your lock. If you need to rent skates, there is also a renting place. However, sometimes it can be...
