It is extremely unfortunate that despite having a decent experience during my face-to-face interactions with Dr. Desai himself, I was left helpless and felt cheated by the front desk staff at this place. They exhausted my insurance and sold me and my child three sets of eyeglasses - one of which simply doesn't work (I don't use it at all, and have had to get new glasses from elsewhere) and the other, for my child, which broke within two months of purchasing them. They didn't repair/replace/refund the broken glasses, despite the promised warranty for which I paid extra. Instead, they asked for more money. My wife and I felt shockingly cheated and conned, and the entire experience was extremely unpleasant.
This place is an out-and-out scam, and it is very easy to see that they are constantly and quite dishonorably trying to sell you stuff that you don't need, and the hard sell process is so frustrating that it wears you out. Once you have paid them, and your insurance has been milked and exhausted, they wouldn't turn a hair or bat an eyelid before shutting their services on your face. All smiles, all courtesy, all politeness go flying straight out of the window, and you are left helpless and with no insurance. I would strongly advise people to proceed with caution, or - preferably - to steer clear. My experience with them has been completely contradictory to some of the other reviews I have read here - reviews that took me to them in the first place. Despite that fact, I am leaving this note of criticism here, because I do not want anyone else to go through the miserable experience my wife, my child and I have had the misfortune of going through in this clinic. I refuse to believe that Dr. Mayur Desai is unaware of what goes on within 20 feet of where he meets his patients, especially because the front office is run and managed by his wife. And it's a shame if he is aware of the uncouth practices that go on under his nose.
I am leaving this criticism here, and will speak to my insurance company about my experience with this clinic. They do not deserve to be in the medical profession, a field where kindness, compassion, selfless service, and a helpful attitude ought to come before profit and pelf. Dr. Mayur Desai's team at Orb Eye Care has none of these traits.
ADDENDUM: After this review was posted - AFTER, mind you - they tried to contact me to discuss the situation. The classic firefighting mode of āplease delete the reviewā. I was unwilling to oblige. Itās not about the $50, itās about the principles and ethics, which Orb Eye Care has demonstrated none of. This is the healthcare industry, and if they would have had any sense of service or common courtesy, they would have known that thereās a a very short window of opportunity in which they have to win the trust of their patients. They lost their chance, must be held accountable and responsible for their activities. The response by the clinic below is clearly a ridiculous attempt by them to shift the focus away from their flaws and faults. People will see through them. It doesnāt take...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreResponding to the owner's reply below, we explicitly informed the store that we are looking for contact lens prescriptions not only during the appointment multiple times but while booking as well. We also made it clear we would be buying the contact lenses elsewhere beforehand. They intentionally did not provide any of the information required and tried to charge us further for the contact lens prescription that was already paid for. Be aware of the type of place you're going to, look at how they are projecting in their reply... Ended up going to the clearly store downtown which was amazing compared to this terrible place.
Original comment: This store wouldn't provide us the measurements we paid for but had it on their system so if we can only buy the lenses right after the appointment or we would need to pay extra as they "don't keep the measurements on their system". Overpriced as it is and dishonest. Also, the service was horrendous. Not sure if it was because they knew we were only getting our prescription here but they were rude and in a hurry for us to leave. Definitely won't be going back and letting everyone I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my 3 kids for an eye exam, ages (5,8,11). Dr Desai took his time and was very thorough with each of them. This was the first time for the younger two. They were all very comfortable as he explained to them and I exactly what he was doing during the examination. My older son was recommended to do some exercises and he again, explained to both him and I the benefits of doing so. I also purchased a pair of glasses and was unsure in terms of what style I wanted. The staff was very knowledgeable and guided me through the whole process. I highly recommend Orb Eye Care. They have a huge array of options in terms of styles and budget. Their customer service was outstanding. I really felt like we were all taken care of with the...
