J.P. Wiser's Experience — Local services in Ontario

The tour is a mixed bag. I have toured a lot of distilleries (mostly in Kentucky), so that shaped my perspectives here. The guide was the strength of the tour: very dynamic, entertaining, and did a good job sharing stories during the tasting (which was very well organized). Overall, every member of the staff really did their best. Unfortunately, the factory was certainly not meant for touring, so you can see that it is an afterthought. You cannot hear the guide at times because the cramped facilities mean that some people will be too far, and there is ambient noise. Having to stop in a long staircase to look at something on the wall behind you is quite inconvenient. And once in the factory, there isn't much to see -- don't expect to see a bunch of mash bills in the open air, pour your own bottle, or see something scenic/artsy along the way. Visited JP Wiser's Distillery for a tasting experience with a group of friends. COVID-19 protocols were followed and we felt comfortable and safe from that standpoint. Due to COVID restrictions we were unable to tour the facility, but we still had a great experience!

During the tasting, a presentation was given by a very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman about the history of the facility, Canadian whisky, and how Canadian whisky is made, stored, and distributed. I am not usually one for tours or museums, but the presentation was well done and was interesting to listen to. We were each given 4 taster glasses which contained 4 different types of whisky to try (I'd guess there was ~1 shot per glass for tasting). For $15 this whole experience was...

My partner and I did the J.P. Wiser Experience. We toured the distillery and the experience finishes with whisky tasting! I learned lots during the tour, it was exciting to be in the premises where JP Wiser's whisky is made and know the process involved. Tour guides have lots of knowledge to share with customers and they were friendly and welcoming at all times. Merchandise is high quality and the Experience Centre has a gorgeous and inviting design. It was a great experience from beginning to end and I highly recommend it to everyone...
