I got a few pounds of live fresh spot prawns today down at the Stevestonā€™s wharf at the going rate $25/lb. they are so sweet and delicious no matter how I prepared them (sashimi, fried heads, steamed), about a quarter of the bag were the smaller size. Great friendly service and they accept credit card, which is a plus compared to their rivals.

They have a well organized system of serving crowds of spot prawn lovers. An abundant supply of live prawns for a competitive price. We appreciate prawn fishermen who work long hard hours and go vast distances to bring us super fresh prawns. Loved our Motherā€™s Day prawn fest. Thank you!

Bring your own scale to verify the weight.

Been buying spot prawns at Ladner in previous years before coming over to Steveston. I pre-ordered 4 lbs from them, picked it up on the docks and it felt light, but I didn't question it. When I got home, I measured using my own scale, and it ended up being about 3.2 lbs or 1.45 kg.

Spot prawns were fine, but not the cheapest around. With how much we're paying for them compared to the past years, please verify the weights! I'll be bringing my own scale next time...
