I am extremely disappointed with the recent experience I had at C&C. I purchased two oranges, which turned out to be of extremely poor quality. When I went to address the issue with the customer service department, I was met with unhelpful and disrespectful behavior.
Firstly, when I showed the customer service staff the photographs of the spoiled oranges and presented my receipt as proof of purchase, I was told to call the customer service hotline and return the oranges in person. Despite explaining that it was my first time making a return and requesting written policies for clarity, I was met with a lack of assistance and understanding.
After a lengthy discussion, the staff member reluctantly allowed me to choose replacement oranges but demanded additional payment, which was completely unjustified. This left me feeling taken advantage of and even more dissatisfied with the overall experience.
However, what truly appalled me was the rude and unprofessional attitude displayed by the staff member. She yelled at me and spoke to me in a condescending manner, making me feel humiliated as a customer.
As a loyal customer of C&C, I have always held the supermarket in high regard for its quality products and customer service. However, this recent encounter has severely tarnished my perception of the establishment.
I kindly request the following actions to address this matter:
A formal apology from the staff member for her disrespectful behavior. An immediate refund for the cost of the spoiled oranges. Clear and easily accessible written documentation of the supermarket's return policy to avoid confusion in the future. Assurance that appropriate measures will be taken to address the staff member's behavior and prevent similar incidents from occurring. A commitment to reviewing and improving the quality control processes to ensure the sale of only fresh and satisfactory produce. I hope that C&C takes this complaint seriously and takes prompt action to resolve the situation. As a customer, I believe it is essential to be treated with respect and receive adequate assistance when encountering issues.
Please note that my intention in writing this review is not to harm your reputation but to ensure that necessary steps are taken to rectify the situation and prevent such incidents from happening to other customers. I hope to see a swift and satisfactory response to...
Read moreWhy do Chinese stores want fewer customers? It's so strange. Other businesses usually try to attract and retain customers.
Last week Thursday, Aug 15, 2024, I thought that I would take advantage of C&C's $0.99 sale on shredded pork and preserved eggs congee. Flyer prices are good for a week, and so the last day of their sales are on Thursdays.
I took the TTC and travelled all the way down to the store at 888 Don Mills. Over 40 mins by bus and not to mention that I had to pay the TTC fare.
When I got there at 12:30 pm, they didn't have it cooked. I asked the sales clerk, and she said that they weren't selling any but that I could buy the pork bone and preserved eggs congee for, if I remember correctly, $2.59. The pork bone and preserved eggs congee is very similar to the shredded pork and preserved eggs congee. They could be substituted for each other. However, nope.
I felt so upset and disappointed and so went to their customer service station to complain. One of the staff (a plump lady) was so rude as she began shouting at me. She said that they couldn't sell any because they weren't going to be cooking any. She then said that it was the last day of the sale, and so they needn't sell it. I told her that the flyer said that prices were good until Aug 15 and that they should not advertise merchandise or food that they didn't have in supply. She then said that they reserved the right to limit the quantity, and she pointed to a note on the flyer. They cooked the pork bone and preserved eggs congee that could be substituted for the one advertised in the flyer, but obviously they don't want to sell it for the sale price, $0.99. They also don't offer rain checks.
It's not the first time that they advertised food that they didn't have.
Does it mean that in order to save my time and bus fare, I should call them beforehand each time to ask if they have items in supply?
The customer should have...
Read moreBig which is nice but otherwise just OK, don't expect any customer service. Some produce packaged in styrofoam can be spoiled on the hidden side. Seafood area not the best. Meat department sells frozen chicken legs / wings that are advertised as "fresh" in flyer. Butcher meat typically fresh otherwise, but I'd check it once you get home, I've had stuff starting to go off. Good dim sum if you get there early.
EDIT: There produce prices aren't as competitive as they used to be. There's no scales anywhere to weigh produce and they often package things like garlic and fruits so you have to spend on say 4 units minimum. I can't imagine the amount of food waste this store creates. Be prepared for rude service throughout the store, it's hit and miss, some are more nice than others. The seafood area is the worst in that regard. The meat counter can sometimes be a free for all, they don't pay any attention to the sign they've placed for cueing. Be prepared for some culture shock from some patrons behavior, I had a young couple just walk right in front of me at the meat counter and they were served first. I was like 3 feet from the counter. There wasn't even a line up maybe 2 other people waiting. Talk about impatient and rude. Not so Canadian eh? I'm assuming this is cultural, I didn't make any fuss. Actually some other patrons were also served before me but then noticed me and insisted I was served first, so don't judge everyone by one crappy...
