Artisan Avenue — Local services in Vancouver

Love the products in this store but dislike the customer service. I went in and purchased items 2 days in a row. First day I went in alone and felt like the staff were watching me like a hawk as if I was going to steal something. One of the staff was pretending to be cleaning but it seemed like she was actually just watching me to see if I was stealing. She kept cleaning up around me and followed me around the store but she didn’t interact with me or offer me any kind of help. It was very uncomfortable but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions but I observed that they were not treating the other shoppers in a similar manner as they were treating me. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I went in again the following day with my family but didn’t mention my previous experience to my family members. Upon leaving the store the second time my Mother made the same observation about the customer service. My Mother commented to me that she felt hurt by the experience. I made purchases on both days but my Mother said she wouldn’t buy from this store because of the treatment. My experience has been disturbing. So disappointing because this store has wonderful...

12% transaction fee and not transparent about it. This is equivalent of charging both GST and PST when the item I bought (food) was tax exempt.

Edit: i know this is not actually a tax and I've been to similar establishments as yours. Yours is the only one that charges neither a flat fee nor a reasonable %. Currently there’s a GST exemption on food - are you going to charge 17% when the exemption passes?

Your cost of operations should be considered as part of your agreements with the artists. You claim to give 100% back to your artists - so you do this by punishing your customers who buy more?

There were no signs at the cashier and the cashier made no explanation either. Changing my rating for gaslighting.

Stopped by here yesterday as the window display drew us in while my boyfriend and I were doing some last minute Christmas shopping. Absolutely LOVE this store and so glad we found it! So many great products from local artists/businesses and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly! We got almost everything we needed from this one store - great for gifts but also many things I would love for myself!
