We decided to venture to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as a day trip from Seattle. The area is very nice, reminiscent of other west coastal areas. We came across Mazahr Lebanese Kitchen after a failed attempt to attend the festival on Granville Island.
The restaurant wasn't full. However, the staff left a single person to serve for a good bit of time. He did the best he could. Otherwise, the restaurant has a nice location, nice view, nice atmosphere, and nice menu.
I love Lebanese cuisine! We didn't want to order too much because of plans to go for a crab dinner back in Seattle. We ordered, tabbouli, baba ghannouj, Mediterranean olives, and the Mezza Sampler. Service took a bit. The food, though, was so flavorful and amazing!
Tabbouli is my first love and this preparation of it was perfect. It had that tart tang from the citrus, the zesty of the spring onions, that refreshment from the parsley and tomatoes, and that grain of the bulgur wheat. It was blended perfectly to capture all that goodness in the experience.
Pros: Moderately priced, as long as you don't get crazy with ordering everything. We ended up about (rounded up) $30/person by adding on baba ghannouj and the wine. Friendly service. (Although it did take a while, there was only one server to begin with) Great location because the side of the building blocked out the sun. The wind was cool and the shade was divine.
Cons: Paid street parking. Even though it was cheap considering that I'm from the DC area, there were few spots. I got lucky to get one very close. Service wait time. I will forgive because they left the young man by himself and he seemed new. The chairs aren't that comfortable.
Overall: Amazing flavor in the food! The tabbouli really excited me with the intricacy of the mix to get that perfect tangy-oniony without killing the refreshing from the parsley and tomatoes. So many tavernas overpower or undertone that tang. This was a perfect balance. I enjoyed Mazahr's flavors. I highly recommend for anyone just wanted to chill and let their taste buds...
Read moreWe were in Vancouver and my friend wanted to have Lebanese food and she was on a Keto diet so I looked at options on google and we found Mazahr close by. We found the staff super friendly but the most amazing thing was the taste of Lebanon. Both of us miss the food of Beirut and wanted a delicious experience. 1- Tabouli salad, tastes great 2- Hummus was delicious 3- They have a great selection of vegetarian cold side-orders. They are so delicious that one can be full easily. 4- Lentil soup, just like home. Perfect texture and delicious. 5- I tried for the first time Halloum cheese grilled. Let's just say, if you feel like eating it with tabouli delicious no need for sauce. Then we get to the Protein...Ready? 6- Chicken pieces (Shish Tawook) My favorite, the flavor, the moisture of the chicken dip it with pita and their garlic sauce and go to another world of taste. (Can you tell it's my favorite)? Even in Lebanon, I used to order Shish Tawook all the time. 7- The lahem platter (pieces of lamb) bbq's to perfection. You can eat it by itself and enjoy the authentic flavor. No need to add any sauces to the actual real taste of Beirut. What I recommend if you are hungry and between 2-3 people or more, order the mixed grill because you will get the best of all protein worlds. I would love to see more photos from customers. I will post some pictures of the experience. Vancouver, you are double and triple welcome. I can't wait to go back and order desserts. I was so full that I had to take some food back with me and ate it the next day and it was...
