This review is long overdue. I had recently proposed to my fiance and decided to stop in here while walking by on a whim as the first stop in my ring shopping journey. Terry, the owner's son, greeted me and I explained I was only just beginning my search for an engagement ring and knew nothing. He patiently took the time to explain the 5 Cs and what to look for in terms of a diamond. He also informed me that they were one of the few jewelers who did hand-forged vs. cast.

We ended the conversation with him telling me to take my time and look at plenty of rings (including those at other jewelers) before making a decision. I was put at ease with the relaxed, no-pressure interaction we had.

After much research and many emails and calls back and forth to Terry, I knew I wanted a hand-forged ring and also a lab-made diamond given the low environmental impact. Terry said they would gladly make a ring if I brought in my own diamond, which I purchased from a shop in California. I sent them an image of a design from Brilliant Earth and asked if they could make something similar.

When it was all said and done, the price was even lower than he had quoted me initially, and they exceeded their expected delivery date. The ring looks better than I could have imagined (even better than the Brilliant Earth photo) and my fiance and I continue to admire...

This store is a rare find in the Vancouver area. After looking at almost every special jewellery store for a very special piece, the selection of jewellery in the window of this store will take your breath away. Most of the other stores, including some very big splashy names had styles and gem settings which were very repetitive, nothing that really wowed me. Finally stumbling on MJ's, at Granville near Broadway I immediately saw several rings set with the highest quality diamonds, which really caught my eye. I must have visited John and his staff 10 times before settling on my favourite. The staff quickly grasped my likes and dislikes and were so patient as I tried on so many rings. I ended up with a stunning ring, an elegant style, lots of bling but so comfortable to wear. I have since had repairs and adjustments made to other pieces and John and my husband have already sketched a ruby ring for him. I recently proposed to my fiancee and MJ's team made the perfect ring. John, Terry, and his team were true professionals. They were very patient and friendly during the initial steps, and I felt no pressure. I actually visited their store 4 times before we moved forward as I looked at many different rings and designs. By that time I was fully educated on all things diamonds, I become friends with everyone who worked in their store!

I can't say enough about how beautiful the ring tuned out. They took my ideal image of the engagement ring I wanted, and managed to make it better and more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. My fiancee absolutely adores the ring and we could not be happier with the final product. On top of this, after comparing to many other local diamond stores in Vancouver, the price was incredibly reasonable.
