Day Date! Found ourselves on a little culinary adventure on Commercial Drive. Our first stop was lunch @sushiloku. Sushi is our usual goto but lately we've been feeling uninspired by what we get & we realized it was because we always get the same thing from the same place. So we decided to go outside our comfort zone. We had the following: Assorted Sashimi (18 pieces) - Salmon, Tuna, Snapper, Yellow Tail, Tuna Belly & Salmon Belly. Every piece of fish we had was so fresh & flavourful. The pieces practically melted in your mouth. Sushi Pizza - this was unique. We've actually had sushi pizza in a few other restaurants, but this was our favourite. It has a little bit of everything, sweet, savoury, salty, fresh, crispy crunchy, soft. You name it, it had it. Uni- I have had Uni one other time & it wasn't very good so I was reluctant to try it, but I'm so happy I did. This Uni was so fresh & creamy it was heaven! It was soooo good we ordered another set! Paradise Roll - this was their take on a salad roll it had Mango, Marinated Tuna, Rice, Cucumber, Avocado, Lettuce w/Ses- ame Sauce & Ponzu. All the flavours worked so well together & everything was so fresh!. The server was attentive & knowledgeable. Loku has definitely renewed our love of Japanese cuisine!

I don't give very many 5 stars out. This will be my third. At first I was even just going to give 4 stars but I couldn't think of any reason to not give it 5. We are vegan so it's a review based around those dishes. This was easily one of the best, if not the best sushi I have ever had. The special rolls are usually not worth the extra money at most places, but let me asure you this isn't most places. In fact I'd mainly recommend those and it's not because their standard rolls aren't incredible, rather these special rolls were just worth the extra. The strawberry Ade was fantastic. The gomae was good but very different, same with the agadashi tofu. In fact I wouldn't get those but only because I would rather order another amazing roll. If you haven't been here you need to go. Don't be in a rush though it's stupid busy, but once you eat there you will understand why.

Fun little Korean run sushi joint, so expect some racial variation of the classics you love. (Leaner cuts on the Don's, some spice sneaked in, different breading vs planko). Service is quick and polite, and the atmosphere fun and lovely (Kpop floats though the room). Semi open service area let's you see as they prepare and makes you wish you weren't as hungry as you are becoming. So what's wrong? The location (which thankfully they are moving out of come May) comes to the forefront, with it's literally rotting exterior. Where service and food prevails, the location is showing its age and just needs to be completely gutted and replaced. (Dry rotted patio included). TLDR: decent food and service, failed by location

I was extremely disappointed with Loku. I tried Loku for the first time, and I will never go there again.

First of all, I would like to point out their service was horrible. If I could rate their service in negative stars, I would, but I couldn't. I pre-ordered my sushi an hour ago. When I arrived with my mask and gloves due to COVID-19 to pick up my food, there were literally NO customer (other than myself) in the restaurant other than the chefs and a waitress. The chef saw me standing there and they looked me straight in the eyes, and kept chatting/flirting with the waitress. I waited for a couple minutes and found out no one want to service me, I tried to get the waitress attention by letting them know my order and name. She just said wait, and left me there to wait another 10 minutes while she was flirting/chatting away. In the meanwhile, my aburi sushi was already sitting on the table. After she was done, she grabbed the sushi (which was already on the table for more than 10 minutes) and went straight to cashier area, pointed at the bill, positioned the credit card machine towards me, and did not say a word to me. I always leave minimum 10% tips for takeout, because I used to be a server and I understand how much effort servers have to put in for take out orders. Regardless, I didn't give anything this time, because the chefs and the server fail to service in this particular incident.

Secondly, about the food. To be honest, the aburi sushi was not bad, but also not good. The sushi was average (just that the chefs did not put any wasabi or ginger). Overall, no highlight and no complaint, so I will give their food a three star review.

In total, 1.5 stars and rounded up to 2 stars. And honestly, no matter how good is your food, I won't even think about going back because of...

I was incredibly disappointed with my latest experience with Sushi Loku. I have been telling my friends and family how great sushi loku was and how amazing their food was. We are visiting Vancouver and decided to make reservations for my sister's birthday. I called in advance just to confirm what their maximum for a reservation is as maximum party sizes have changed due to covid. I called in on Nov 2 and spoke with a hostess on the phone, and she indicated 6 people was ok and that they could accommodate us for 7pm for Nov 6. We show up at the restaurant yesterday and my friends were told by the hostess there was no such reservation and that their maximum party size was 5. I went in to talk with the hostess as I made the reservation, and they said they had a record of me calling on Nov 2 and she knew my name, and said they aren't sure what happened because no such reservation was made, and their max party size was 5. They said they had to put us on a wait list and told me it would be at least a 30 minute wait. It was incredibly disappointing. We got a call an hour later for our table but was too upset to even show up. My sister has a wheelchair and we were so excited to go to a wheelchair accessible resturant that I have been raving about for years to her to celebrate her birthday. To show up and have this happen - it was annoying for us all. I don't plan on booking any future events here. We left and took our business to another sushi restaurant who had much better customer service. Thanks so much Sushi Loku, I won't be recommending this restaurant to any...
