I had a total of three conversations lasting approximately 10 minutes each over the course of a year and a half with Dr. Bascu. Never have I had a specialist in my extensive medical history be so dismissive, judgemental and disengaged. Instead of listening to concerns and explaining why she was choosing any one course of action, she would simply say “no I’m not doing that“. She would not explain why she was taking a particular course of action, or offer any information about how she would address concerns with the alternative she wanted to take. She actually said “I’m tired of people calling and I will not accept disrespect.“ If I’m not the only patient in the situation, that tells you something about the pattern. She sees inquiry as disrespect rather than genuine concern for one’s own medical situation. I am the first to defer to experts given their sound medical judgment, but my concerns were used to treat me like a peon, even though I have been in exactly the same situation countless times before and was trying to communicate what had worked and what didn’t she was defensive. One of her staff is actually very helpful; the other who apparently is no longer there is absolutely toxic. I tend to think that this is a symptom of leadership...

The single worst medical experience I’ve ever had. Before even seeing me, Dr. Bascu was loudly discussing another patient in the hallway and berating her staff for booking appointments before a long weekend. The atmosphere was tense and unprofessional.

When she finally saw me, she was cold, condescending, and dismissive. She criticized me for not collecting enough urine samples during COVID—even though I, like many, was avoiding visits during the pandemic to reduce strain on the system. My decade-long history of the same tests was readily available, yet she completely disregarded it. When I teared up from frustration at not being heard, she told me I might need psychological help instead.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dr. Bascu is truly one of a kind. I have never met a doctor as compassionate, dedicated, and hardworking as she is. No matter how busy she is, she always takes the time to call us back, answer every question with care, and make us feel like a priority. Her kindness and empathy shine through in every interaction, and her level of commitment is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced in the medical system. We are so incredibly grateful for her — she has been a constant source of support, reassurance, and expert care during one of the hardest times in our lives.
