I recently visited Whistler for the very first time and chose The Keg for my very first meal, hoping to celebrate my birthday with my son. Unfortunately, what should have been a special occasion quickly turned into a disappointing experience due to the poor service we received from our server, Robbie L. From the start, I had high expectations, given my positive experiences at other Keg locations. However, those expectations were shattered. Robbie initially greeted us, took our food and drink orders, and asked if we were celebrating anything special. I mentioned it was my birthday, hoping this might elevate the experience. My son also informed Robbie of his severe peanut allergy, which was acknowledged, but to my surprise, no manager came to our table to discuss the safety of our orders—a standard protocol in every other Keg I've visited. After our drinks and bread were delivered, we were left unattended until our meals arrived. We both ordered a 10 oz filet mignon with a seafood topper. Sadly, Robbie failed to check in during the meal, never asking if we wanted more bread or drinks and completely missing the opportunity to correct the fact that my steak was served rare instead of the medium-rare I had requested. We watched him interacting with other tables around us and directly beside us, but he just ignored our table completely. When our plates were cleared by another server, Robbie dropped off dessert menus without even asking if we’d like some dessert, or asking how our meal was or addressing any concerns. There was no mention of a complimentary dessert for my birthday, nor were we offered coffee. To be honest, I was actually getting angry at the lack of his awareness of how neglected we’d been by him all night. Feeling greatly disappointed we decided against ordering dessert and simply asked for the bill. To make matters worse, Robbie presented the bill but never returned, forcing me to flag down another server to ask for a debit machine to pay our bill. The most shocking part came when I was paying. Robbie leaned over, scrutinized the tip amount, and had the audacity to ask if what I entered was correct. When I confirmed it was, he went silent, making no effort to understand why I chose not to tip. Several smaller details compounded the disappointment. For instance, the sauce for the seafood topper was not drizzled on as it should have been, which Robbie acknowledged but did nothing to fix. Additionally, wine glasses cluttered our table the entire evening, even though we hadn't ordered wine. As someone who had looked forward to my first dining experience in Whistler, I was left feeling let down. The Keg's reputation for quality service was undermined by Robbie's inattentiveness, making this a birthday dinner I'd rather forget.

Came here a couple days ago (was deciding between Earls or The Keg). Went with the Keg because we've always had the best experience. Hostess didn't bother asking how our day was or if we were celebrating anything (birthday trip), was just handed off to another host and then seated without a work other than our server would be with us shortly. Our server came, he was very nice, asked us if we have been to The Keg before, we mentioned we were regulars but at other locations in the Lower Mainland. As we were waiting for our apps, we were never given the complimentary classic sourdough bread that every Keg has offered to their guests until after our appetizers were served and after I had to ask for it (every Keg we've been to had offered it to us before waters were brought out; also their water tasted like something that would come out of a toilet bowl) . We ordered baked garlic shrimp which was our favourite appetizer. When received, the shrimp was swimming in butter and there wasn't enough cheese covering the top (never had that happen before). My drink had a fly in it which was quickly replaced, although my partner's drink whom had ordered the same drink as me, were missing it's garnishes (which the bartender only added in for my replacement). My partner ordered the Filet Mignon and the description stated that it was bacon wrapped, what he ended up getting was a filet with a burnt bacon strip resting on top and it tasted like charcoal, which we found quite amusing. I had ordered the Sirloin Oscar, the shrimp was dry, the scallops were dry, the sauce was cold, the steak tasted fine although I don't believe they let the steak sit long enough as each cut was bleeding. I also ordered Frizzled onions and they came out cold and dry as if it was straight from a bag you could get at the grocery store. I went to use the washroom, and their washrooms are the most outdated I've ever seen in a Keg restaurant. The toilets didn't even flush. The restaurant was also pretty cold, you'd think they'd turn up the furnace a bit for folks who are coming in from the cold. We usually stick around for dessert but just wanted to get out as soon as possible without causing a commotion. My partner and I both agreed that this was the worst Keg we've ever visited and will not be returning to this location. We do recommend visiting The Keg in Burnaby at Still Creek, the experience is night and day. I give it a 1 star just because our server was friendly and because the Baked Garlic Shrimp still tasted the same (just too much butter and not enough cheese). Does that look like a bacon wrapped filet mignon to you?

Do not book here. If you think it might be a nicer Keg you will be disappointed. Maybe we came on a bad night but we booked for a 40th birthday, and on arrival the hostess seemed to insinuate she’d try to find a “nice table”, however we were taken to a dull corner which reminded me of a Dairy Queen indoor patio area (if you get the ref). There was DEAD BUGS in the window sill beside us and a hole in the wall just above. We were also sat in a busy section where the staff were going in and out of the patio as well as next to the service staion. We did ask to move and they gave us a MUCH better table , made me wonder why on earth we’d be sat where they put us first?? Then the drinks…. The waitress apologised as they were busy and backed up ect, prob took 30 min for our first round. We arrived 18:30 , ordered food by just after 7 and the food didn’t arrive until well over an hour- prob 80 min. We left right after we ate and bill shows that was just past 9pm. I am leaving out loads of other details but my god it was terrible ! I felt bad for the server but I have no clue what the issues were - very poor- kept being told sorry and 10 more min and waiting and waiting- we didn’t even order anything long (no complex items at all so why took so long?). Also I assume it was the manager who later in the evening awkwardly came to the table without introducing themselves and just said happy birthday then walked away…. I mean after such an appalling experience you would think they might try harder or take care of a round of drinks but all I can say is I will NEVER return and tell anyone I know not to bother. There are soooo many amazing other places to eat at Whistler and these guys seem to be taking the mick - especially at those prices. It was a really disappointing experience for what was meant to be a special occasion.

From the moment we walked in, we knew this was going to be mediocre at the very best to maybe really bad. And we were right. Let me tell you why.

We made a reservation for 6:15pm. As soon as we walked in, you can see the 3 hosts were like headless chicken trying to map the dining room and you can hear and see them talking in some sort of panicky way. We arrived early, at 6:08 to find out that we needed to line up for "check in" regardless if you had resos or not, you need to line up. There were 3 groups in front of us, and the 2 groups in front of us were letting the hosts know that they had reservation, one group had reso at 6pm and he let the host know but they didn't seem to bother. Thry said yes we know but please wait a moment. They were shaking their heads. Long story short, we got in and seated at 6:20pm.

Our server was very kind, which was really nice. She gave our children some paper and crayons to draw. My wife ordered the prime rib dinner, children is sharing chicken strips, i ordered NY strip signature with add on one pc of crab cakes. My meal also came with salad, which I chose wedge salad with dill ranch ( another option for dressing is blue cheese ). By the time order was placed, it was already 6:33pm. I also ordered a drink and a juice for my children, which came at reasonable time.

At around 6:55pm, our server came to let us know that my salad with dill ranch is taking longer than expected, something to do with they have to make it or something, so she said it will takr 5 or so more mibutes but if i oot out for blue dressing, it can come sooner.. which i thought it was strange.. so I declined anyway because I just hate blue cheese dressing. By around 6:15, i still have not received my salad.. then i saw A manager came rushing through the dining room with a plate of salad on his hand and he arrived at my table and said how sorry he was that the salad is taking almost 45 minutes etc etc. He said he would give us discount on our meal. He was very apologetic and sincere so we had no issues with it, we understand things happens. What bothered me though was that, as soon as i got my salad, 5 minutes later, our steaks/entree came. And my fries, were not hot.. it was lukewarm at the very best.. you can almost tell that our entrees were sitting under the heat lamp for a while..then i was wondering why did they push out my entrees so fast? So I think what happened was my entrees were done then before they sent them out, they realize i had not received my salad! And they did not want to wait any longer so they get colder each secobds passes by, so they sent them out anyway.

The meals were fine. I enjoyed the prime rib very much but my NY strip meal was just okay. The mushroom that came with my meal also looked dry.

In the end, they did give me 15% discount on a $180ish bill, so after the discount it was around $150, I tipped $30. We left and tokd ourselves that as much as we appreciated the discount, the whole experience was just meh. We have been to other Kegs before, but we can almost simply say, this...
