There has been a lot of hype around the Raven Room lately, so I made a reservation well in advance to make sure my husband and I would be able to come here as part of our anniversary weekend away in Whistler. We came for appetizers and cocktails and everything was super delicious!
Our waitress was great- very friendly and let us know right away that if there wasn't something in the cocktail menu that appealed to us, that something custom could be made. She was very helpful in giving recommendations. Between my husband and I the cocktails we tried were the local lemon drop punch bowl, queen of Barbados, and sorry I dropped your cherry. For appetizers we had the potato puffs and spicy Thai fried chicken.
There punch bowl is a good value- $16 per person and we each got the equivalent of 2 drinks out of it. The queen of Barbados was not as sweet as I expected but nonetheless was delicious. However the best cocktail by far was the 'sorry I dropped your cherry!' which came recommended to to husband from our waitress as he likes sweeter drinks. It was so unexpectedly tasty- normally we would stray away from a cherry flavoured cocktail but we are glad we took her recommendation! it was my husbands drink but I ended up having a few sips.
The food was 10/10. Both appetizers were FULL of flavour and worth every penny. I noticed that both appetizers are part of their happy hour menu too which looks like an awesome deal! I cannot say enough good things about the spicy Thai fried chicken and potato puffs.
The only reason for not rating 5 stars is some things are definitely way overpriced. For example, we were considering getting the scallop and prawn appetizer but when I asked how much food it is, because they charge $27, the waitress told me it was only about 3 of each. So $27 is steep. The entree options also did not really appeal to us and definitely not for the price point- based on what we saw other people getting the portions are quite small. Overall though, the Raven Room lived up to the hype and we would...

The black lagoon pop-up was super fun - they really went all out in decorations! There's little (and big!) skeletons all around the place, bats, scary nuns, mummies... Very spooky but not at all distasteful.
Being a weekday, we had the place almost to ourselves, and it felt very special.
We had the wild boar belly + scallops, and raw elk tartare. Boar belly was really good. I didn't fully enjoy the tartare because the pickles were mixed in and I wasn't expecting that, but I could still see that the elk was very good. It was just personal preference, but still our server took it off our bill so I wouldn't pay for something I didn't enjoy. She didn't have to, since neither she or the kitchen did anything wrong at all, but it was nonetheless a nice gesture for which I was very thankful for!
Desserts were wonderful, they were what I was looking forward to the most, and they did not disappoint. Apple crumble was great, but the mascarpone creme brule was on a whole different level. Perfect texture in every single element, I wish I could have an entire swimming pool of it!!
Our server was amazing, with great drink recommendations and a fun chat. She even let us play some music of our own choice while we were there!
The only name I caught was Daniel, the mixologist who made me a great cocktail - but every single server last night was incredible, I really wish I wrote down their names!
I loved the experience, it was great fun. Fantastic drinks, fantastic desserts and out of this...
Read moreIt was okay.....I came during off seasonal and it was next to empty inside despite being attached to the hotel. Drinks were weak and overpriced, albeit there's an attempt to be creative at least. I'm a lightweight and didn't even get a buzz from the 2 cocktails I had so stopped ordering because what's the point? I wanted a nice buzz and to relax and I wasn't getting it. Interestingly the owner sat at the bar just 2 seats down from me....and ordered the same dish as me, whether it was before or after me, idk, but I will say one serving finally came out after I'd been waiting for quite a bit, was on my second cocktail, and they set it in front of the owner.....um, OK. He notices my face and asks if I was waiting for that dish and I say yes. So what do we do? He leaves it untouched in front of him while we wait for my portion to come out after the barback told him mine was the on the way. I can't lie, I found that that bizarre, especially since he then proceeded to take longer than myself to eat the tiny portion. Overall the owner himself was pretentious and not out and out rude, but had that arrogance that comes with thinking they're all that and no one should question them because "do you know who I am?". But I get the vibes there's a lot of folks in town who might be that way, it's a very bougie area. Honestly, I wouldn't come back, it wasn't terrible but between what was served versus the prices and the company kept....yeah I probably won't be back. Food was...
