Casa Balbi — Local services in Monteverde

Stay here. We spent 10 nights in the wet season and it was a wonderful choice. We showed up without a set itinerary and took up host Oscar's offer to give us an overview of places to hike and value-for-money restaurants given what we're into and our budget. When the sun was out we were on adventures nearby or playing pickleball on Casa Balbi's maintained grass area. When it rained and in the evenings we were on the beautiful patio reading or doing work on our computers and listening to the river and seeing birds and coati visit. THERE ARE NO MOSQUITOS at this place! Such a relief to be able to be outside & feel like you're in the jungle without any repellant on. The apartment itself was suuuper functional for travellers. Fully equipped kitchen, space for your clothes, hooks for packs, etc. I loved this place because of its peace, practicality, and balance. If you want to keep to yourself, you can do that easily with a lot of privacy in the rooms and patios. I am so glad to have stayed here. The houses have a nice terrasse with views of a nearby creek. My house had a well equipped kitchen with all you need for your stay. There is a great shared yard to sunbathe in hammocks or enjoy the stunning views of the forest behind the property (which has a walkable trail if you are feeling like exploring!).

However, the best thing about this place is the hospitality of Óscar and Larry, who run Casa Balbi with a lot of dedication and go above and beyond to make your stay a comfortable and relaxing one. All in all, my stay here far exceeded my expectations and I will visit...

Our time at Casa Bilbo exceeded our expectations. The room had everything you needed to feel right at home. The kitchen was supplied well (coffee,sugar, s&p, oil), and the bathroom was newly renovated and clean. The room was cozy, and the bed was comfortable. Location was within 5-10 mins driving from the town or any excursions you choose to do. Hosts were beyond lovely to talk to and even gave you lots of suggestions for places he knew would be worth your time. Definitely recommend staying and would visit again....
