Unbelievable day! Let me tell you the kind of service we received from Big Eye II fishing charters in Quepos... From the start... I sent an inquiry and got a call from the owner himself that evening. Owner Frank Martinez was very friendly to talk to, very informative with all the ins and outs of what to expect on our first offshore fishing trip. I could tell he honestly loves what he does. Some people just do it for a paycheck but I tell you we could not have been better taken care of with anyone else. He (Frank) and deckhand Alex took such great care of us. We caught an unbelievable amount of tuna, mahi mahi and even Marlin! We saw so many dolphins swimming around the boat it was a show in itself. Alex (deckhand) also must really love his job. He didn't miss a thing from catching the bait, rigging the baits, checking and oiling every reel, keeping all our lines tangle free, getting our fish in the boat, keeping the boat clean, providing drinks and refreshments, that man didn't miss a lick! We all were amazed at his attentiveness to every person's needs. We went out 42 miles offshore, and found a perfect spot where my husband reeled in his Blue Marlin! This was on his bucket list! After that we took turns reeling in tuna after tuna and mahi after mahi we had finished for the day. We then came upon hundreds of dolphins swimming all around, showing off for us, jumping out the water and doing little flips. It was amazing! It was such a beautiful day on the water! If that wasn't food enough Alex then cleaned and bagged all the fish with precision and made us a platter of fresh sashimi tuna with soy sauce. This was the absolute best raw tuna I have ever eaten! On the boat we were provided with chips, tuna pasta salad (Frank's wife made it for us,) fresh cut pineapple and watermelon along with a variety of beverages and beer ๐Ÿบ. We couldn't be more pleased with the service these guys provided us. Do yourself a favor and book them if you are wanting an unforgettable fishing trip in a beautiful country! I promise you will not be...

I have fished charters all over the world. I have gone back to fish w Franklin on BigEye II for 15 years because he is the best. If you haven't fished Quepos, be aware, there are captains that are drunks , druggies and worse, boats that are POS with mates that are clueless, tackle that is junk and attitudes that match. Franklin ( Franky) is a local Tico, a family man and passionate professional. His boats and tackle are 1st class, he always has plenty fresh bait, even live bait when they can get it, his mates work hard ALL day, and he isn't afraid to burn fuel to run after the bite,

aside from his willingness mix it up w his customers, he provides a great lunch ( many times a hot lunch ) , fresh melon, pineapple and plenty of ice cold beer, water and soft drinks. Plenty of space under the canopy out of the sun, and bunks down below if you need a rest.

Now for the best part ... Franky doesn't just go fishing, he goes CATCHING. Inshore or offshore he will put you on the bite. I have fished him peak season, rainy season and in between, he knows the waters and what is feeding and where and will get your rod bent. From enormous Yellowfin tuna, huge Mahi, triple and quad sailfish hookups, greyhounding Marlin and awesome Wahoo, get ready! Inshore expect monster Roosterfish and great Cubera Snapper. unbelievable action.

So again, if you want to outfish the fleet and have a really enjoyable day, fish with the true local professional, Franklin...

20 Years ago in college my wife put on her Bucket List the catching of a Marlin and/or Sailfish. We scheduled a trip with Franklin after many calls to other charters. There were several reasons I chose Big Eye 2, but the main was when I asked the likelihood of fulfilling our goal, Franklin only promised he would work hard to put us on our goal and be the first out and the last one in. He was spot on. Not only did we catch a Sailfish, we hooked up a Marlin. Team that up with the many Tuna and the sashimi prepared by the great 1st mate Alex, and you could call that day a highlight of our first trip to Costa Rica. When we come back and bring the kids next time, a trip with Big Eye 2 is on the must do list. Thanks Franklin for working so hard and being so professional, and thank you Alex for your knowledge, intensity, and coaching. You guys made some dreams come...
