This place is fantastic! We loved it so much the first time that we chose to go back for our last dinner in Quepos before heading home. The restaurant is located at the Marina Pez Vela right on the water. There are several restaurants at the Marina - a great place to explore. Our server, Rachel, was so attentive and kind. The food. Oh. My. Word. Hands down the best ceviche of our stay. We got the special seafood ceviche which was served with fried plantains. To die for. The fish, calamari, octopus and shrimp was as fresh as it gets. Not a bit chewy. Our first trip we had two ceviches but we should have preferred only one because it was big! My husband has preferred the fish one served with cassava chips. It was certainly delicious but the mixed seafood was the star. We ended up sharing the catch of the day which happened to be sea bass, served with rice and veggies and it was so delicious smothered in garlic butter. Our second trip we, wisely, ordered only one ceviche - the mixed special of course! For our main courses we ordered the shrimp and fish tacos with a side of fries. Both were so yummy! Dessert for both nights was also fantastic - macadamia pie and coconut flan. We will definitely remember Cuba Libre and visit again because we plan to come back to...
Read moreI had an excellent dining experience at Cuba Libre. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with a perfect blend of Caribbean charm and modern comfort. The service was attentive and friendly from start to finish — the staff made us feel truly welcome.
The food was outstanding. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The Cuban-style meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the fresh seafood options were equally impressive. The cocktails were another highlight — especially the mojitos and the signature rum-based drinks, which perfectly complemented the meal.
Whether you’re a local or visiting Costa Rica, Cuba Libre is a must-visit if you’re looking for delicious food, great drinks, and a lively ambiance. I’ll definitely be...

We got offered a daily menu - it should cost around 12.000 CRC (2 different fish based dishes and mariscada). When paying, the price on the bill was suddenly "slightly" different - asking around the triple (36.000 CRC) for the mariscada. After I complained, the waiter told us that only the fish dishes were for 12.000 CRC, not the mariscada. I have seen similar practices on Cuba (typical tourist trap), people in Costa Rica are normally honest. This place is an exception, unfortunately.
Additionally, the prices on the menu are without VAT and they add it on your bill at the end, increasing the price by 13%.
They are trying to cheat you every...
