Sømods make the best hard candies I've ever had. There is a certain charm in this somewhat hidden pocket of olden days. This absolutely tiny shop hosts an array of classical and wonderful tastes, which have become regulars for people of many generations. Even so, the shop can have a slight cult status outside of the Copenhagen area. My personal recommendations go as follows: Silkeorme, stikkelsbær, rabarber, hostebolsjer, jule rocks The last one is Christmas specific - the best time of the year to visit Sømods.

Very cute, lots of options. You can get a sample. The only downside is that you have to get at least 50g of each flavor, so maybe try a sample of any unique flavors you want first. I got chocolate and whiskey, strawberry and vanilla, coffee and marzipan, and rhubarb and vanilla. The strawberry and vanilla is super good, as is the coffee and marzipan. The chocolate and whiskey is heavy on the whiskey, so I don't really like it. And then I haven't tried the rhubarb yet. The bag of ~200g was around $15.

The original! The one and only! Still making candy the right way. No visit to Copenhagen is complete without a visit to Somods. And the candy is absolutely delightful. It’s the best. Buy some candy. It’ll make your trip better. And it’ll make your return home better. I recommend the pear candy. Just walking around the city and popping hard candy just made things better. We had to return for more candy. It’s hard to find candy without a bunch of chemicals. Go there now! ENJOY!

This candy shop is a little hidden gem in the heart of Copenhagen. If you have a sweet tooth then definitely pay a visit, they have over 70 types of hard candies. Even if you don't like sweets, still this makes such a precious gift, especially for holiday season. The candies are manufactured by hand with old techniques and they use only sugar crystals which is why the price might be higher than what one would find elsewhere, but you will be paying for top quality at...
