I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at this restaurant that claimed to offer authentic Nepali cuisine, but fell far short of expectations. The food served was a disappointing and lackluster representation of Nepalese cuisine, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and regretful.
Firstly, the flavors of the dishes were completely off. The spices used seemed to be either nonexistent or completely misused. The dishes lacked the vibrant and aromatic flavors that are characteristic of authentic Nepalese cuisine. It felt as though the chef had no understanding of the delicate balance of spices that make Nepalese food so unique and delicious.
Furthermore, the dishes lacked authenticity in their preparation and presentation. The traditional Nepalese dishes I had been eagerly anticipating were nowhere to be found. Instead, I was served generic and uninspired dishes that could have easily been mistaken for Indian cuisine. The quality of the ingredients used was also questionable. The meat in the dishes was tough and chewy, indicating poor sourcing or improper cooking techniques. The vegetables lacked freshness and were overcooked, resulting in a mushy and unappetizing texture. It was evident that the restaurant did not prioritize using high-quality ingredients, further diminishing the overall dining experience. The lack of authenticity, poor flavors, and questionable ingredients made for an overall disappointing dining experience. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment if you are seeking a true taste of...
Read moreIt's been difficult to decide how to write this review, there are positives about this restaurant but also negatives which on balance somewhat spoiled the experience for us. I've eaten curries in many countries and they all vary so I'm not expecting it to be the same as at home.
The positives: Great location, Great service, Good atmosphere, Great range of very tasty starters
The negatives: Price (but to be fair this is true of bars and restaurants throughout Copenhagen) Tiny portions of mango chutney and raita with the poppadoms The curry
I want to elaborate on my issues with the curry, wherever I've had curry in the world the base flavour of sauces has almost always been onions, garlic and ginger with spices, etc. then layering up to build the flavour. The curry here was very acidic and appeared to be predominantly based on a tomato flavour profile, this was then spiced but there wasn't any real depth to the flavour and the acidic profile just overwhelmed your palette. It's possible that this is just how curry is in Denmark, I won't know until I go back and try somewhere else but it was so profoundly different to anything I've had anywhere else that I'm sceptical. I also don't think it was the Nepalese influence as have eaten at several Nepalese run curry houses without this issue.
On balance if you want to go and stuff yourself on starters then go for it, for anything else I'd...
Read moreWe went in a Saturday evening after we booked a table online .. the place was empty so we had some second thoughts about that.. but we continued… I ordered chicken butter and I asked for NO spicy consistency. And my companion ordered chicken as well spicy medium… one pie as an appetiser and 2 drinks. When the food came mine was extremely spicy for me and I couldn’t even understand the taste of chicken .. I asked my companion about his food and it was okay . I talked to the waitress and she said that they can’t do anything about it because this is the way that the cook cooks 🤷♀️ and never offered me to take my plate back or anything else from the menu.. so after 20 min they asked us to leave because it was time to close the restaurant so we paid and we left .. it was very expensive for the quality of the food and the atmosphere there …sadly I highly don’t recommend...
