We took this trip. Price for us (short notice westerners) was US$80/person which is a lot cheaper than some other famous sites. They came at the correct time, drove us to their boats and across the Nile with views of the Winter Palace all lit up. We were given tea coffee and twinkies for the ride. Couldn't face a twinkie that early in the morning but the tea was very welcome. We had a few minutes wait in the taxi as we were the first across then driven to the launch site and up in time to see the sunrise. The balloons are quite large about 30 people but it is a long thin basket separated into compartments of 4 (my wife and I shared with a nice older German lady and a very cheerful young man from Cairo. Our balloon captain pointed to various sites we were seeing as we drifted back and forth - the valley of the kings, Rammaseum, Hapshepsut's temple etc. and the landing was very smooth and well co-ordinated with the ground crew.

In the air for about 40 mins which was long enough to see things and make amazing memories but not so long that we needed the loo/drinks...

Must do in Luxor! Perfect organization and communication. Although our smaller balloon was later than others it was worth the wait. Felt very safe the whole time, good explanations and team work. Pilot was Mustafa, Guide Achmed. recommend the sunrise tour over the one a few hours later - the lighting is so beautiful...
