St.Joseph Hotel — Hotel in Luxor City

I stayed her quite a while ago now but having seen it on TravelSupermarket felt I should say how great our stay was..St Josephs is central to Luxor Karnak Valley of the Kings. The Hotel receptionist gave us details of Nile cruise Red Sea and Cairo trips...all about a 10th of the price than through a rep and we went on them all!..Hotel was a bit dated but it's spotless and the food was outstanding..we were booked for B&B but the price to add half board was too good to miss out on.The rooftop pool is great with a fab veiw of the Nile and the poolside bar meals and drink was very reasonable and very tasty.Staff were all awesome friendly and couldn't do enough for you..The Kalesh driver we met on our first day stayed with us through our entire stay even waiting outside the Temple and Museum visit in Luxor bless him.His name was Joseph and he took us everywhere and anywhere very very cheaply..The Kalesh stop was right outside and he would always wait for us..Even his horse was fab!..Cannot say how much I love this place and I will be...

Parto dalle poche cose che non mi sono piaciute.||La mia stanza era al secondo piano. La prima notte a causa del rumore ho avuto grosse difficoltà ad addormentarmi. Le altre una volta per una buona bevuta :) e un'altra per la stanchezza non ne ho risentito.||La colazione, compresa nel prezzo e servita nel ristorante adiacente convenzionato, presentava una scelta differente ma di sapore molto discutibile. Comunque poi alla fine si riesce a farla (anche se me ne sono servito solo 2 volte). La cosa che non ho capito è che avevo chiesto un bicchiere d'acqua, mi viene portata una bottiglia, e dopo che l'ho aperta mi sono stati chiesti i soldi per quell'extra. Per carità niente di che però con succo d'arancia e tè (più le pietanze) gratuite farsi pagare un bicchiere d'acqua l'ho visto "antipatico".||Detto questo l'albergo si trova a circa 2 Km dal porto / tempio di Luxor, a piedi se resistete alle continue offerte di passaggi in taxi o calesse ci vogliono 20/30 minuti. Comunque si fanno facili visto che è tutto in piano oppure con 5 LE ci si può far portare. 20 LE per raggiungere il tempio di Karnak, circa 8 / 10 km, con il calesse e 25 LE con il taxi (prezzi trattati un minimo visto che di partenza la richiesta era più del doppio, ma non so e non mi interessava se ulteriormente trattabili). Io me la sono fatta anche a piedi per vedere la città con calma, ma non posso fare una stima del tempo perchè mi sono fermato spesso.||Sul lastrico solare, al 7° piano, trova spazio una piacevole piscina (5x3 mt) riscaldata soprattutto dal sole (ma forse anche l'acqua in circolo lo era) e un bar. I lettini forse non sono sufficienti anche perchè su alcuni non arriva il sole se non in orari di punta. Quindi nel caso ci si volesse abbronzare un po' bisogna organizzarsi dalla mattina presto, magari con una piccola mancia (anche se io ne ho usufruito una sola volta).||Nel seminterrato dell'hotel trova posto un grazioso pub. Il dubbio è sui prezzi praticati visto che durante l'happy hour erano comunque superiori alle strutture esterne decisamente più frequentate.||Una nota sugli altri clienti che credo fatta eccezione per il sottoscritto erano di origine britannica. Famiglie e anziani soprattutto.||In conclusione ottimo se intendete solo dormirci, e dovrebbe essere così viste le tante cose da fare a Luxor, ma piacevole se per un giorno...

Das Hotel ist in zentraler Lage von Luxor ca. 50m vom Nil entfernt. Das Highlight ist eine schöne Dachterasse, von der man eine traumhafte Aussicht auf den Nil hat, nur getrübt von einem Hotelklotz zur Seite. Auf der Dachterasse (mit kleinem Pool) kann man die Abende bei einem kühlen Drink ausklingen lassen (auch Mahlzeiten sind dort möglich).||||Es handelt sich hier um ein günstiges Hotel der unteren Mittelklasse. Die im Internet verfügbaren Fotos zeigen sicher (wie so oft) ein etwas optimistisches Bild. Das Hotel liegt an einer vielbefahrenen Strasse, unser Hotel (2. Stock) zur Seite war aber ruhig. Wir hatten ein ziemlich geräumiges Dreibettzimmer mit Kühlschrank und guter Klimaanlage. Die sonstige Zimmer- und Hoteleinrichtung ist schon etwas alt und verbraucht, insbesondere der Fahrstuhl ist nicht unbedingt vertrauenerweckend, und die Teppiche sollte man nur mit Schuhen/Flip-Flops berühren. Der Balkon war groß aber wegen des Lärms der Klimaanlagen eigentlich nicht zu gebrauchen.||||Wir hatten Unterkunft mit Frühstück reserviert, welches in einem Restaurant im Erdgeschoss in Buffetform stattfand. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken war klein aber ausreichend und bestand aus ägyptischen und "westlichen" Angeboten. Da das Restaurant ziemlich dunkel war, würde ich es nicht für weitere Mahlzeiten empfehlen. Zu erwähnen ist ausserdem, dass während des Frühstücks andere Gäste geraucht haben, was vom Personal auch nicht weiter beachtet wurde, d.h. wohl üblich und toleriert war.||||Das Personal an der Rezeption war weitgehend freundlich, und kam auch mit unserem mitternächtlichen Checkin gut klar. Bei unserer Abreise hiess es allerdings, dass keine Kreditkarte akzeptiert werden könnte, da es frühmorgens wäre - vermutlich eine Ausrede, da lt. Online-Informationen Kreditkarten akzeptiert werden. Da ich nicht lange diskutieren wollte, bin ich dann zu einem nahegelegenen Geldautomaten gegangen.||||Das kostenlose Wireless Internet hat gut...
