Kokai Restaurant — Restaurant in South Sinai

Went on Tuesday 14 May with 2 friends. We shared shrimp and chicken dumplings, WonTon soup, sea bass with stir fry, beef and egg noodle hotpot and shrimp egg fried rice. The dumplings filling had minced shrimp and separately chicken with a ton of pepper - nothing like coriander or ginger or a delicate flavour - just a totally over the top extreme pepper taste. Sadly my wonton soup just had 2 of those same peppered dumplings in it. The 3 mains were extremely disappointing - without doubt the worst shrimp egg fried rice I've tasted - the shrimps rubbery and the rice a nasty moist brown moulding. The other 2 dishes way below par. We have eaten here before and it was far better than this - perhaps the chef having the night off and a passing motorist was asked to help out. Seriously poor food. Drink prices are scandalous for Sharm as well and more expensive than many of the luxury hotels in the vicinity. Oh - and of course their Card machine wasn't working so cash only. Came here for authentic Chinese food and it did not disappoint. Had probably the best shrimp dumplings of my life here, coming from someone who loves authentic asian cuisine and has tried many different places across the world. The ginger beef and kung pao chicken were also so good and packed with flavor. It sucks that we were the only people in there as the food and service were amazing and the owner was such a nice guy. Definitely go here if you want good chinese food with an exceptional atmosphere! Also, prices were amazing! We ordered 2 meals and an appetizer and it was only 1276 EGP (about 35 dollars Canadian, which was insane to us since we usually triple for the same amount of food in other places). Overall, great place and will forsure come back next time...

The guy at the reception is kind and fraud one.

To be honest, the food was so tasty within reasonable price and nothing to complain about. The reason I am giving 2 stars only because of the receptionists dishonesty.

I ordered food and water and tea, the receptionist gave me a charge of 900 egp without any bill. When I asked him for a bill he took a long time and when he came back showed me my food price was below 500 (as he could not cheat about it due to price mentioned on the menu) while just to back up his initial claim he matched 900 by telling me that the 1.5 litre water bottle was 128 egp and 2 cups of tea was 280 egp.
